After years as part of the Virgin River ensemble, Marco Grazzini and Lauren Hammersley are stepping away before Season 8 begins.
Grazzini joined the series five seasons ago and quickly became a familiar face as Mike Valenzuela, the town’s dependable police officer. In Season 7, his storyline wrapped on a hopeful note as he reconnected with Victoria, offering what producers described as a natural stopping point for now.
Hammersley’s Charmaine, introduced in the very first season, played a major role in early storylines involving Jack and the show’s biggest long-running mysteries. Her appearance in just two episodes this season signaled a gradual shift away from the character.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith explained that the series must continue refreshing its storylines as it grows. Even so, he shared that both characters could return later if new developments make their comeback meaningful.
