After four years of silence in Alaska, Leroy Jethro Gibbs is finally stepping back into the spotlight. Mark Harmon is officially set to reprise his iconic role in a special Veterans Day crossover between NCIS and NCIS: Origins.
The one-night event will air Nov. 11, with NCIS: Origins kicking off the evening at 8 p.m. ET/PT, followed by NCIS at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. The storyline connects a 1990s investigation led by a young Gibbs (Austin Stowell) to a present-day case that reopens old wounds.
Co-showrunners David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal teased that while Gibbs initially retreated to Alaska for solitude, “he’s no longer alone.” Harmon, who narrates Origins and serves as executive producer, said he was intrigued by the creative team’s new idea for Gibbs and felt it was “a good time to check in with him.”
What exactly Gibbs has been doing — and who might be with him — remains the big mystery.
