The seventh season of FBI may have ended with one character’s life hanging in the balance, but the casting change we already know for the eighth doesn’t involve that star.
The CBS drama got a multi-season renewal in April 2024 to take it through Season 9 in the 2026-2027 season, so its immediate future has been known for a while. What isn’t known is exactly who the newest cast addition — Juliana Aidén Martinez, following her Law & Order: SVU exit — is playing, or if the Season 8 premiere, which now has a date, will see the bureau lose their boss.
Read on for everything we know about what’s to come for FBI Season 8, from the premiere date to who will be back and more.
When will FBI Season 8 premiere?
FBI Season 8 will premiere on Monday, October 13, at 9/8c, on CBS. It will no longer be airing Tuesdays at 8/7c as part of a three-hour franchise block. The spinoffs International and Most Wanted have been canceled. And while the new offshoot CIA is coming and was originally slated for the fall (and to air after FBI), it’s now been moved to midseason.
Who’s in the FBI Season 8 cast?
The series stars Missy Peregrym (Maggie), Zeeko Zaki (OA), Jeremy Sisto (Jubal), Alana De La Garza (Isobel), and John Boyd (Scola). Lisette Olivera (Syd) was cast in a series regular role as Scola’s new partner after Katherine Renee Kane (Tiffany) left in the Season 7 premiere, but exited after a few episodes. Then, Emily Alabi joined as Dani Rhodes and teamed up with Scola. However, she’ll only be back to close out her character’s story, which is why it seems like new series regular Juliana Aidén Martinez could be coming in as Scola’s new partner.
How did FBI Season 7 end?
In the Season 7 finale, a rogue terrorist group infiltrated the FBI. They planted mini explosives in government-issue phones, and Isobel was caught in one of the blasts. The only ones who knew she surprised were Maggie, OA, Jubal, Scola, Dani, Kelly (Taylor Anthony Miller), Elise (Vedette Lim), and Ian (James Chen) until she revealed herself to pretend to be corruptible to take down the dirty deputy assistant director. After he and the rest of the rogue group were arrested, everyone gathered, only for Isobel to collapse in the middle of speaking to her agents. When the finale ended, she didn’t have a pulse.
What will FBI Season 8 be about?
So far, all we know that the agents will continue to investigate cases of the week. The premiere will also have to reveal whether Isobel lives or dies.
