Virgin River is officially back in production. Season 8 began filming in Vancouver on April 22, with a 10-episode order and a production schedule running through August 10.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith returns to lead Netflix’s long-running drama, while Alexandra Breckenridge and Zibby Allen have already shared glimpses from set. Notably, Martin Henderson is stepping behind the camera once again to direct an episode, following his well-received work in Season 6.
Several familiar faces are returning, including Austin Nichols as Dr. Eli and Cody Kearsley as Clay. However, the new season will move forward without characters like Mike, Veronica, and Charmaine, whose storylines have wrapped.
Season 8 will reportedly open with a four-month time jump and continue exploring major emotional arcs—particularly for Mel and Jack as they navigate parenthood under challenging circumstances. A 2027 release is المتوقع as filming continues through the summer.
