Do Johnny, Chanel and Sophia die on Days of Our Lives? pd01

Day03

We knew that Days of Our Lives would be saying goodbye to Carson Boatman and Raven Bowens (as well as two more cast members!), but sheesh. We never imagined that the Peacock soap would be dispatching Johnny and Chanel like this – and taking Rachel Boyd’s Sophia with ’em!

What the Heck Happened?

In the April 30 episode (recapped here), Sophia eschewed the gun that puppet master Kristen gave her in favor of using a more AP Science method to do away with Johnny. Just as his and Chanel’s apartment was about to blow, in she came, desperate to rescue her husband. But the way the hour ended, it sure looked like both of Trey’s adoptive parents had been blown to smithereens.

Sophia Penned a Heartbreaking Farewell

Meanwhile, Sophia went back to her room and wrote a devastating suicide note. “I’m tired of begging for forgiveness for my mistakes,” she said. “All I wanted was to move forward, to be loved and understood. But it’s clear that I was never going to get that.

“Holly Jonas said that I was dead to her,” she added. “So, as her former BFF, I’m going to make her dream a reality.”

What’s Next?

We have a sneaking suspicion that Johnny and Chanel will miraculously survive, if only so that the show can bring them back as a later date. After all, their roots run deep in Salem. Bowens assumed her role of Paulina’s daughter in 2023 when Precious Way was recast. Boatman became the first adult Johnny when EJ and Sami’s son was SORAS’d in 2021.

Already, Boatman, who is also an accomplished country singer, has begun laying the groundwork for a daytime return, even suggesting that General Hospital might be worth checking into, so to speak.

But Wait, There’s a Twist

Though Days of Our Lives has left us thinking that Sophia will die by suicide, it ain’t necessarily so. As you’ll see in spoiler photos for the Friday, May 1, episode – take a peek here – she looks like she’s headed to the grave via a very different route.

As for Boyd, her next big gig is already lined up: She has a pivotal role in the thriller Sick Puppy, which hits theaters on May 22.
