Look, we all know Days of Our Lives‘ Stefano popped kids out left and right, but there’s got to be a limit to it at some point, right? There’s André, Megan, Renée DuMonde, Benjy Hawk, Lexie, EJ, Chad, Jake and Stefan, then the adopted Tony, Kristen and Peter Blake. That’s, by our count, nine biological children and three adopted! And now there might be another??
If you’re wondering where this came from, it hit us during Tuesday’s episode. Abe was talking to Theo about how Lexie’s mom, Celeste, was Stefano’s only real love in life. But he did amend that to say, “Besides Marlena. But he and Marlena never had a child together.”
And that just about made our hair stand on end! We know Marlena’s going to be going on a quest. We know she was added as a beneficiary to Stefano’s will without EJ knowing. And we know she was dreaming about being Stefano’s Queen of the Night, back when he was messing with her mind.
Is all of this leading us to the reveal that Stefano and Marlena did have a kid we never knew about?? That would, horrifyingly, mean that it wasn’t consensual, as it would have only happened when Marlena was under Stefano’s mind control or brainwashed. Even worse? Marlena getting pregnant and giving birth in secret while onscreen would still be a stretch, even for a retcon. So let’s face it: The only real chance would have been when Stefano was secretly keeping Marlena on his island, supposedly in a coma, while everyone thought she was dead between 1987 and 1991.
But as much as we hate to admit it, it would tie a lot of what’s been going on together.
But who would be? Well, for one thing, there’s no reason this needs to be a new kid. One of Stefano’s current offspring could fit the bill.
Our first thought just for how twisted it would be was Kristen. It would make her a DiMera by blood, especially with how much she takes after her father. The age difference is just enough to work, and having Marlena’s daughter sleep with her husband and have a kid with her stepson? Oof. If this was anywhere other than Salem, we’d say, “No way!” But… it’s not impossible.
Still, that would be a bit of a stretch. EJ’s out, of course. Between Sami and Belle – just no. A better candidate, it seems, would be Chad. For one thing, the age is probably close enough to Marlena’s missing years.
Then there was how the show cut from Abe’s off-the-cuff remark about Stefano not having kids with Marlena, right to her sharing a warm moment with Chad, thinking about how much their families are intertwined.
If that was the case, it would also explain a lot why he is so decent compared to much of the family. And this seemingly out-of-left-field flirtation between Belle and Chad (they even agreed to get together once he got back) could lead to a lot of tension. Would they grow close enough to kiss before the truth came out that they’re siblings?? (Please, no.)
