‘9-1-1’: Oliver Stark Discusses Buck’s Interest in Eddie
Now that Buck (Oliver Stark) is exploring same-sex attraction with Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) on 9-1-1, could fans one day see Buck hook up with his best friend Eddie (Ryan Guzman) on ABC’s first responder drama?

In an upcoming interview on the podcast I’ve Never Said This Before With Tommy DiDario, Stark addressed fan speculation that Buck didn’t get along with Eddie in Season 2 because of a deep attraction.

“I think that’s probably a pretty smart way to look at it,” Stark said. “Eddie — and Ryan, who plays him — is obviously a fascinating man… His introduction to the character is actually Buck in slow motion, and ‘What a Man’ is the soundtrack, so I think if we look back at that moment, yeah, there was definitely an element of that.” The actor further explained: “Not knowing how to process and deal with those emotions, [Buck] compartmentalized [them] into a form of jealousy and holding on to himself. See, Buck is this kind of young, high-spirited, action-hero guy from 118, and then all of a sudden there’s Eddie, who can do everything he can do and is also a single dad and an Army veteran and all these really cool things. So, yeah, I could definitely see [in] some of those early moments when they were butting heads, that there was some kind of feeling there that Buck didn’t quite understand… and obviously, they’ve gotten a lot closer now.”

Could Buck and Eddie hook up, and could we even see a wedding at 118? “Who knows?” Stark said.

9-1-1 showrunner Tim Minear also weighed in on the Buck–Eddie prospect in an interview with TV Insider earlier this month. “Right now, Buck is discovering something about himself and he’s made new friends. I can’t even begin to predict exactly where the story is going to go in the next few episodes. Right now, Eddie’s with a woman. Eddie’s married to a woman. Eddie has a child with a woman. Eddie also has very complicated feelings about, I think, his place in the world.”
