Gordon Ramsay Brings the Heat Back Home: Hell’s Kitchen Set for Explosive UK Comeback After 10+ Years

Hell’s Kitchen, the fiery culinary competition, is rumoured to be making a comeback in the UK next year, over a decade since its last series. Gordon Ramsay, the renowned chef, is reportedly preparing to revive the show following its successful run abroad.

The programme, originally hosted by Ramsay, now 58, first aired on ITV in 2004 and featured celebrity contestants such as Amanda Barrie. After Ramsay’s departure, the show continued for three more seasons, including one with members of the public as contestants, before ending in 2009.

Post his exit from the UK version, Ramsay introduced Hell’s Kitchen to the US audience on Fox in 2005. He has remained a constant presence on the international edition, which wrapped up its twenty-third season earlier this year.

Last year, there were whispers that Ramsay was considering a revival of the UK version of the show. Recent reports suggest that he might indeed bring back Hell’s Kitchen next year, with hints that he could resume his role as head chef.

There are also rumours that he may open restaurants under the show’s name in the UK, mirroring his successful ventures in the US, reports the Mirror.

An insider told the Sun: “Fans of the show will be doubly thrilled by the prospect of the competition coming back and being able to dine in a Hell’s Kitchen restaurant over here. Business-savvy Gordon has watched as the popularity of Hell’s Kitchen in the US has helped bring in thousands of customers to his restaurants.”

The source described it as a “smart move”. They said: “The programme is broadcast in more than 100 countries around the world, so between tourists visiting Britain and developing a whole new audience for the telly contest in the UK, it’s an incredibly smart move on his part.”

On 27th January this year, Ramsay trademarked the Hell’s Kitchen name in the UK so that it can be used in restaurants, as well as for entertainment purposes and sound and video recordings. The trademark was registered on 18th April, and is due for renewal on 27th January, 2035.

This indicates they could launch venues immediately following the show’s return to ITV.

It would mirror the earlier establishment of a US chain bearing the Hell’s Kitchen brand alongside the programme’s success there. Ramsay launched the inaugural restaurant, situated in Las Vegas, in 2018.

That outlet, billed as the globe’s first Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen restaurant, sits opposite Caesars Palace. It reportedly accommodates over 300 diners.

He said: “There is a lot of nostalgia behind this concept of Hell’s Kitchen. The restaurant on set is exactly the same as the one we have built here, from the [colours of the] red and blue teams to the banquets to the chef tables. And then there is the food – everyone is desperate to eat those scallops!”
