Previously, it was announced that Barber would reprise his role as George by appearing in a dream sequence in an upcoming episode of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. On her Instagram Stories, Young Sheldon star Raegan Revord, who played George’s daughter Missy, shared a new image taken on the Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage set. It reveals Barber in a group hug with Revord, Montana Jordan (Georgie), and Zoe Perry (Mary). Of course, fans will notice the absence of Iain Armitage, who played the young Sheldon Cooper in Young Sheldon. While Annie Potts has made appearances on the new show as Meemaw, she’s also not present in the set photo. An image of the post can be seen below, courtesy of Screen Rant.

Barber is bearded in the photo, as he was reportedly present for the taping of an episode. It’s likely he will look more like he did as George in the actual episode featuring the character’s return. Barber previously attended a taping of the show in 2024 just to show support for the Young Sheldon sequel show’s cast and crew.
Will Iain Armitage Return for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage?
After George’s appearance, Sheldon will be the only member of the Cooper family not to make a special return in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The character moved to California at the end of Young Sheldon, where he will remain through the events of The Big Bang Theory, so it was expected that he would not have a major presence in the new spinoff. As of now, it hasn’t been officially confirmed that he will appear in any upcoming episodes, but it does seem that it’s inevitable that a reunion will happen one day, perhaps for a holiday special. Though that didn’t happen with the previous Thanksgiving episode, the actor is keeping the door open for a potential return.
The Young Sheldon alum will solve a family dispute in an upcoming episode.
“If I got a call to go back, that’d be so much fun. I’d be honored to,” Iain Armitage told TVLine about a possible return in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. “I’m also just excited to get to sit back on my couch with some popcorn and watch their show because they’re so good. But I could totally see myself getting in the khakis again, putting on the old penny loafers and bow tie, and going back out on the job.”
New episodes of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage premiere on Thursdays on CBS. Previous episodes are streaming on Paramount+.
