Iain Armitage, known for his role as Sheldon Cooper on Young Sheldon, recently shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse from the pilot taping of the spinoff series Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he expressed his excitement about reuniting with former castmates and returning to the Warner Brothers lot, where he had spent much of his childhood. Armitage mentioned reconnecting with Annie Potts, Emily Osment, Melissa Peterman, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, Rachel Bay Jones, Will Sasso, and many crew members he had missed since filming Young Sheldon. He also hinted at a favorite scene from the taping, teasing fans with a promise to reveal more in October. The spinoff, which stars Montana Jordan and Emily Osment as Georgie and Mandy navigating adulthood, marriage, and parenting in Texas, is set to premiere on October 17 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS .
Since the conclusion of Young Sheldon in May 2024, Armitage has taken a break from acting to focus on personal interests and relax with family. He recently obtained his student pilot’s license and aspires to secure his full private pilot’s license at age 17. Armitage remains connected with his former co-stars and supports their work, recently reuniting with both of his on-screen mothers, Shailene Woodley and Zoe Perry. Though he hasn’t taken on new acting roles since the show’s end, Armitage is actively auditioning and has expressed interest in returning for the upcoming third season of Big Little Lies, which is reportedly in early development. He also showed support for the new Young Sheldon spinoff, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, visiting the set though there’s no confirmation of a guest appearance .
