Production is underway on Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, the upcoming series that serves as a sequel to Young Sheldon. The show will primarily follow Montana Jordan’s Georgie and Emily Osment’s Mandy, but original Young Sheldon stars will be making guest appearances.
Previously, it was confirmed that the first episode of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage would feature appearances from Zoe Perry (Mary Cooper) and Annie Potts (Meemaw). On Instagram, Potts shared a new image from the set of a sign brandishing her character’s name along with the official logo for the spinoff series. Another photo shared shows Potts posing with Rachel Bay Jones and Melissa Peterman. Jones played Mandy’s mother in Young Sheldon, while Peterman played Brenda Sparks.
Iain Armitage comments on if Sheldon Cooper will appear in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Jones’ Audrey and Will Sasso’s Jim McAllister will serve as series regulars in the new series. Also featured in the spinoff is Mandy’s brother, Connor, with Dougie Baldwin taking over the role from Joseph Apollonio, who appeared in an episode as the character in Young Sheldon. Jessie Prez will also stars as Ruben, one of the employees of Jim’s tire shop.
Will Other Young Sheldon Stars Pop Up in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage?
Fans can expect to see some other familiar faces from Young Sheldon in the new series, albeit in a more limited capacity. After Mary and Meemaw pop up in the first episode, Raegan Revord will return as Missy Cooper in the second one. As of now, it hasn’t been confirmed if Iain Armitage will make an appearance as Sheldon Cooper, but it seems more likely than not that it will happen. It’s been teased that the character could return for a holiday episode, as that would make the most sense from a storyline standpoint.
Iain Armitage shared a heartwarming video of himself referencing Sheldon Cooper while meeting Montana Jordan’s new baby.
“Zoe and Annie are in the first episode, and Raegan will be in the second episode,” executive producer Steve Molaro told TVLine.
Fellow EP Steve Holland added, “Like we’ve always said, this is a world where this family exists and can be a part of this world. We love all these actors. Sheldon is in Pasadena going to school, but I think for a Christmas or a Thanksgiving [episode], we would love to have him stop by. This is a world where these actors can keep coming and playing. We don’t want to make it a ‘guest star of the week’ thing, but they’re a part of this world.”
“If I got a call to go back, that’d be so much fun,” Armitage himself told TVLine. “I’d be honored to. I’m also just excited to get to sit back on my couch with some popcorn and watch their show because they’re so good. But I could totally see myself getting in the khakis again, putting on the old penny loafers and bow tie, and going back out on the job.”
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will premiere on CBS on Oct. 17, 2024.
