Young Sheldon Star Shares Emotional Sneak Peek at Final Family Dinner Scene
New images and footage reveal a first look at the final family dinner scene filmed for Young Sheldon.
As Young Sheldon nears the very end of its production, the cast and crew have now filmed what will be the show’s final family dinner scene. On Instagram, series star Raegan Revord (Missy Cooper) shared a post from the shoot, revealing several images of the big scene straight from the set. Given that the family’s patriarch is expected to pass away in the coming episodes, this will likely be one of the last scenes to feature the family all together before the tragic event.
In the caption of the post, which can be seen below, Revord wrote, “Last family dinner scene was an emotional one to film. We opened the show with a dinner scene where we were first introduced to the Cooper family and they quickly became a staple in the show. Those scenes were always my favorite to film because they brought us all together and, like a real family, we got to sit around the table and eat and catch up with each other. It felt like being home with the people I love.”
Along with the new set images, there’s a video clip that actually reveals some of the dialogue from the scene with the family saying their blessings at the table. Revord also included an image from the first season from when the show opened with a family dinner scene, and a look at just how much the children have visibly aged is a reminder of how much time the stars of the series have spent with their television family. Even though a sequel series is coming, things will never be the same again for the Coopers, given George’s imminent death along with Sheldon relocating to California. Revord has also suggested she won’t return as Missy in the spinoff, previously claiming she wasn’t “invited.”
The Story Will Continue in a Spinoff
The spinoff will follow Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) after the events of Young Sheldon. Additional story details haven’t yet been revealed and it’s not clear which other characters will be a part of the new series. It’s in the works for a release on CBS during the Fall 2024-25 season, so the wait for the story to continue won’t be long. Meanwhile, a separate Big Bang Theory spinoff is in development for a streaming release on Max.
The series finale of Young Sheldon will wrap up the series on Thursday, May 16.
