Ahead of its series-capper, CBS confirms Jim Parsons’ role in the upcoming Young Sheldon finale and how it ties to The Big Bang Theory.
Jim Parsons’ role in the Young Sheldon finale is confirmed as it connects to The Big Bang Theory. Despite co-executive producing and providing the adult Sheldon narration in the prequel, the actor has never made a physical appearance in the prequel. However, that will change when CBS airs Young Sheldon‘s special one-hour finale on May 16. Parsons’ cameo has long been confirmed, but new details as to what it will be about recently came to light.
Ahead of its finale, CBS has revealed the title for Young Sheldon season 7, episode 14, which is “Memoir.” This confirms the long-standing theory about why Parsons’ adult Sheldon is narrating the events of his childhood. Based on the title, the socially inept genius has been working on his memoir, potentially after he won the Nobel Prize in Physics in The Big Bang Theory finale. Unfortunately, no other details have been revealed about the outing, but Mayim Bialik will join Parsons as Sheldon’s wife, Amy Farrah-Fowler.
Will Other Big Bang Theory Characters Appear In The Young Sheldon Finale?
It Will Be Great To See At Least Leonard And Penny.
Before it was announced that Parsons and Bialik are reprising Sheldon and Amy in the upcoming special, there were already hopes that the Young Sheldon finale could double as a The Big Bang Theory reunion. Assuming that the family comedy/drama wraps up with a flashforward scene, it can easily feature the rest of the Pasadena gang, allowing CBS to bring back one of the most popular TV ensembles ever. There is currently no indication that more The Big Bang Theory characters will appear aside from adult Sheldon and Amy. This doesn’t mean, however, that the writers are keeping special cameos under wrap.
Amy’s arrival in Sheldon’s life was long pre-dated by Leonard and the rest of the gang’s friendship.
Aside from the sheer joy of seeing the Pasadena gang on the small screen five years since TBBT wrapped up, there are also some narrative benefits to bringing them back for the Young Sheldon finale. Amy’s arrival in Sheldon’s life was long pre-dated by Leonard and the rest of the gang’s friendship. Aside from finding someone with similar interests, Sheldon also met a person willing to stick around for him, giving him a solid social circle for the first time in his life. Penny, on the other hand, provided Sheldon with the motherly love he needed with Mary far away.
If there will be any surprise guests in the Young Sheldon finale, it’s safe to say that they will no longer be announced ahead of time. Instead, CBS will opt to save it for the outing itself. While the prequel revolves around Sheldon’s family, the Coopers’ absence in The Big Bang Theory finale and the presence of the Pasadena gang reinforced just how important his friends were to his arc. Hopefully, Young Sheldon can honor that by bringing more of them for the grand coda.
