Young Sheldon Season 7 Episode Info Potentially Teases George’s Cheating Scandal

New details about Young Sheldon season 7 suggest that George’s cheating scandal may still unfold on screen. Sheldon’s story about catching his father in bed with another woman, as revealed in The Big Bang Theory, has loomed over the prequel since it began. Although Young Sheldon season 6 skipped over this pivotal moment, some theorized that CBS may have decided not to address it. However, the storyline might simply have been delayed until this final season.

According to CBS (via Futon Critic), episode 4 of Young Sheldon season 7 could finally tackle George’s infidelity. The foundation for this plot has been laid over the years, especially with George’s borderline inappropriate relationship with Brenda Sparks. While nothing concrete has emerged from this storyline yet, the title of the upcoming episode and the confirmation that Sheldon and Mary will return to Texas have reignited discussions about George’s affair. The official episode description reads:

“Ants on a Log and a Cheating Winker” – Missy steps up, Mary has a surprise for George, and Sheldon finds his dorm occupied.”

Will Young Sheldon Address George’s Cheating Scandal?

The return of Billy Sparks in season 7 opens up the possibility of involving his mother, Brenda, in the storyline, especially since she lives nearby. While there’s no confirmation of her reappearance, it would be easy to re-incorporate Brenda into the narrative. From there, Young Sheldon could finally bring their potential affair to a climax, assuming Brenda is the woman Sheldon caught George with in The Big Bang Theory.

However, there are several challenges CBS faces if they choose to tackle the affair. With Young Sheldon concluding in a shortened final season, there’s limited time to provide a satisfying resolution for the Cooper family. Moreover, George’s confirmed death before the series ends makes the cheating scandal even more complex to address. Ruining his character so close to his death could diminish the time the show has to depict the family as a cohesive unit.

Should Young Sheldon Ignore George’s Infidelity?

Given the time constraints and the inconsistencies between Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory, it might be better to skip George’s cheating scandal altogether. While CBS and the writers maintain that both shows exist in the same universe, the discrepancies between the two make ignoring the affair less of an issue if it leads to a more satisfying conclusion for Young Sheldon. The focus should be on delivering the best ending possible for the prequel, even if it means sidelining certain aspects of canon.
