Young Sheldon Introduces Mary’s Replacement Ahead Of New The Big Bang Theory Spinoff Show

After Mary goes through significant character development, Young Sheldon immediately introduces her replacement before the next TBBT spinoff.
Ahead of the next The Big Bang Theory spinoff, Young Sheldon season 7 introduces its next Mary. The Cooper matriarch was already an established character before the prequel premiered thanks to Laurie Metcalf’s regular appearance in The Big Bang Theory. Defined by being a devout born-again Christian, Sheldon’s mother has used religion to justify some of her most dubious actions and beliefs. In The Big Bang Theory, she utilizes the bible as an excuse for being judgmental towards her son’s friends. Young Sheldon has somehow softened Mary in the last couple of seasons after being kicked out of her congregation.

Ever since getting separated from her church, Mary has gone through a significant character journey. Aside from being argumentative and self-centered, she has learned to focus on what she feels is right and wrong. This simplistic approach has made her more agreeable to George and fair when it comes to dealing with Sheldon’s antics. On the heels of the boy genius’ summer in Germany, the Cooper parents’ relationship is at an all-time high, with Young Sheldon retconning George’s cheating scandal story. However, Mary’s changed behavior paves the way for her replacement, and not in a good way.

Young Sheldon Season 7 Makes Mandy More Like Mary In A Bad Way

Young Sheldon season 7, episode 4, “Ants on a Log and a Cheating Winker,” reunites all the Coopers for the first time since the season 6 finale. The excitement surrounding Sheldon and Mary’s return is quickly replaced by frustration as they deal with the living arrangements. While Sheldon suggests that he take back his room, Mandy aggressively contradicts him. Granted that the boy genius can be unreasonable, he isn’t out of bounds for wanting to reclaim his bedroom. While Mandy can oppose the idea, the way she does it is rude and vexing, which is reminiscent of old Mary.

Later on, Sheldon is further inconvenienced by Baby Cece’s incessant crying. He knocks on his bedroom to ask about the situation, but instead of being apologetic about it, Mandy invalidates his feelings and essentially tells him to suck it up. Granted that babies cry, and she is exhausted from the day, but Mandy doesn’t have to be so dismissive of Sheldon’s request. The boy genius just had a long traveling day and is forced to sleep in the garage while nursing jet lag to accommodate their situation. At the very least, Georgie and Mandy should be appreciative of his sacrifices.

How The New Mandy Reveals About Georgie’s Young Sheldon Spinoff

Mandy has never had any issues standing up for herself. However, Young Sheldon season 7, episode 4 shows her arguably off-base in how she handles Sheldon. Granted that Sheldon has become increasingly annoying as of late, he isn’t unreasonable in his requests. Assuming that Mandy maintains this stronger personality, the next The Big Bang Theory spinoff about her and Georgie risks repeating the couple dynamic of Penny and Leonard, as well as George and Mary (in previous years). Perhaps, that may even be one of the reasons for their eventual split.
