Young Sheldon Hasn’t Shown The Most Visceral Reaction To George’s Death Yet

The Coopers have already received the news of George’s death, but Young Sheldon has yet to show possibly the most visceral reaction to the family’s biggest loss. After seven years, the writers have finally completed the rehabilitation of George’s image — from the punchline that he was described in The Big Bang Theory to the properly fleshed-out patriarch in the prequel. He played a big role in the lives of the Coopers throughout their time in Medford, and while he wasn’t perfect, there was no denying his dedication to his family, which made him resonate with a broader audience.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean that he was properly appreciated by his family. Early on in its run, Mary used to nag him about the smallest things. He struggled to connect with Sheldon, while also having difficulties bonding with Georgie and Missy. That said, George’s unexpected death in Young Sheldon season 7, episode 12, “A New Home and a Traditional Texas Torture” would likely be a big eye-opener for everyone in the family to realize how much he tried for all of them. With his demise now done, the prequel can focus on how the clan moves on from it

As if it isn’t sad enough, George’s final interaction with Missy in Young Sheldon makes it more tragic and sets up Georgie’s TBBT story about her.

George’s death happened off-screen, with the Coopers receiving the news from his colleagues at work. The clan was gathered at Sheldon’s childhood home in Young Sheldon season 7, episode 12 as they get ready to take their family portrait. Mary, Missy, and Meemaw got the heartbreaking update, and all of them were immediately consumed by emotion. Meanwhile, Sheldon was flabbergasted on the side, overwhelmed with his feelings. This left Georgie still unaware that the biggest tragedy in their lives just happened as he joined Mandy in the bedroom to change Baby Cece’s diaper.

Young Sheldon season 7, episode 12 delivered George’s tragic death and it was handled beautifully, except for 1 big mistake made by CBS.

Young Sheldon Season 1 Hints At Georgie’s Visceral Reaction To George’s Death

Georgie Once Experienced Receiving Bad News About George.

Georgie’s reaction to George’s death will be revealed in the Young Sheldon series finale, but if a previous episode is any indication, his response will be visceral. While the writers left viewers wondering about the cause of the Cooper patriarch’s death until the very end, there were clues about his demise being related to health issues. Back in Young Sheldon season 1, episode 3, “Poker, Faith, and Eggs,” George suffered his first heart attack. While his siblings had no choice but to stay at home, Georgie was adamant that they go to the hospital to check on their dad.

Admittedly, Georgie and George’s relationship wasn’t easy in the last few years, especially as the younger Cooper carved his path and made his mistakes in Young Sheldon. However, in the few times that they spent time with each other, it was clear that Georgie adored and idolized his father. Now that he feels a fraction of the responsibility that George had with Baby Cece, it’s possible that he would take the news of his passing the hardest. If Meemaw was deeply affected by George’s death, then there’s no reason that his own son wouldn’t be distraught over his loss.
