Young Sheldon Boss Drops Hint: Is a Missy Spinoff on the Horizon?

Considering Young Sheldon benefited from its cast growing up with the show, this opens the room for a potential Missy spin-off.

CBS’ decision to end The Big Bang Theory after 12 seasons was shaped by Jim Parson’s commitment to move on from the role despite being offered a reported eight-figure salary to continue playing Sheldon. But this didn’t stop the network from capitalizing on TBBT‘s huge success, with Young Sheldon becoming a notable addition to the franchise.

As for future spin-offs, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has already received the greenlit, and with the Young Sheldon cast all grown-up, this opens room for more opportunities, especially a Missy spin-off.

A Potential Raegan Revord-Led Young Sheldon Spin-off Sounds Promising

Speaking of the Young Sheldon crew, sitcom co-creator Steve Holland shared how numerous storytelling opportunities arose as a result of the young cast growing up, especially Raegan Revord‘s Missy. Revord, who was 9 when she was initially cast, excelled at playing Missy as the show went on, and Holland couldn’t help but marvel at her journey as an actress.

At the beginning, I think Raegan would throw in one-line zingers here and there, but as the years went on and she got so good, we could really lean on her for a whole story or an emotional story, and it just opened up the kind of things that we could write. And I think it let the show kind of grow up with the kids, where the stories we could tell could get a little bit more adult and a little bit deeper as the show went on.

With Revord now 16, and CBS already making their intentions clear about potential spin-offs to the revered IP, a Missy-led show might be the way to go. Not only the actress excelled at her role as she grew older, but her character became a fan-favorite among the viewers of the TBBT spin-off, and Missy’s wit and sassy nature make her the perfect fit for the medium.

Moreover, having a female-led spin-off will further broaden the IP’s audience, making it a lucrative option business-wise.

Jim Parsons Would Be Delighted To See a Michael Keaton-Led TBBT Spin-off

As for more spin-off ideas that CBS can work with, an Old Sheldon spin-off, starring Michael Keaton also has a nice click to it. Following the Batman star’s resemblance with Jim Parsons, the idea has been circulating among the fandom for quite some time now, and the sitcom lead himself entertained the theory. When asked about his resemblance with the Oscar winner, Parsons expressed that he’d be thrilled to see Keaton being “added to the lineage of Sheldon portrayers”.

It is interesting. There’s definitely a resemblance. The one thing I will say is Michael Keaton — that really looks like Michael Keaton still, doesn’t it? I would be so excited to have Michael Keaton added to the lineage of Sheldon portrayers. I would be amazed

While time will tell what stands ahead for the IP, it’s safe to say Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage might not be the end of TBBT spin-offs.
