Josh Lucas popped the big question to Los Angeles meteorologist, Brianna Ruffalo, in a sweet engagement video uploaded to his Instagram page over the past weekend.
The Yellowstone star, 53 – who was recently revealed to be ‘engaged’ to Ruffalo following a proposal in Italy late last month in June – gushed that he ‘got crazy lucky’ in the caption accompanied with the clips.
The first reel showed an emotional Brianna as she wiped away tears just moments after she said ‘Yes.’
Both Lucas and the weather woman were at a restaurant while a band played instruments next to them – adding to the romantic atmosphere.
A large, diamond sparkler could be seen on her left hand as Josh filmed her reaction to the proposal.
She could be seen wearing a stylish black dress with a plunging neckline while her voluminous locks flowed down in light waves.
Brianna continued to place her hands under her eyes as she wiped more tears away and sent a small smile towards the camera.
In the second video, the actor filmed a close-up of the instruments being played and then panned back over to his fiancée to give a better glimpse of the engagement ring on her finger.
The meteorologist still flashed a big grin on her face and shared a laugh as she continued to take in the moment.
Lucas also added a selfie of the pair as they struck an affectionate pose outdoors next to vibrant, purple flowers.
The Sweet Home Alabama star penned in the caption, ‘For the last 2 years in Every Way and Every Day this beautiful soul has made me and my life better, deeper, and more whole.’
‘I am so grateful and thrilled she said “Yes.” I WAY love you Brianna. & Thank You to our families and all the people and places that made this come true. I am absolutely aware I got crazy lucky.’
Social media users jumped to the comment section to share their congratulations to the couple, including his Palm Royale co-star Kaia Gerber who typed, ‘so happy for you two!!!!!!’
Ricky Martin added, ‘Congratulations to you both,’ followed by celebratory emojis, while one fan shared, ‘Congratulations Josh, WELL DONE. SO happy for you for you and @abc7briannaruffalo.’
House Of Cards actor, Michael Kelly, also penned, ‘Congratulations to the both of you!!!!’
Over the weekend on Saturday, TMZ reported that Lucas got engaged to the Los Angeles meteorologist during their recent Italian getaway.
The couple traveled extensively across the country, visiting Positano and Naples for a summer holiday, per the outlet’s sources.
Lucas reportedly saw this as the ideal moment to pop the question, given Ruffalo’s ancestral ties to Italy.
The brunette beauty accepted the offer, and upon their arrival in Los Angeles, the couple joyfully shared the news with their families, who are reportedly thrilled for them.
Their engagement caps off a year and a half of dating, starting with a chance meeting at a restaurant while Lucas was on the set of his new show Palm Royale, according to the insiders.
In real life, Lucas successfully won his girlfriend’s heart, but his character in Sweet Home Alabama wasn’t as fortunate.
Lucas gained fame for his role in the 2002 romantic comedy alongside Reese Witherspoon, playing Witherspoon’s estranged husband Jake, while Patrick Dempsey portrayed her fiancé Andrew.
At a red carpet event in May, Ruffalo admitted that she wasn’t cheering for Lucas’ character in the movie, telling E! News, ‘I’m Team Patrick Dempsey.’
Ruffalo even joked that her opinion posed an ‘ongoing problem’ in their relationship.
‘From day one, [Brianna] was like, “Oh yeah, you were the other guy,”‘ Lucas chimed in at the time. ‘She was like, “I didn’t like you because you like, stole her from Patrick.”‘
Josh previously tied the knot with writer, Jessica Ciencin Henriquez, in 2012 but she filed for divorce two years later in 2014.
However, the pair continued to be on-and-off until she publicly accused Lucas of cheating on her in 2020 ‘in the middle of a pandemic.’ The former couple also share and co-parent son, Noah, 12.
In 2018, the Ford V Ferrari actor opened up to People about raising their son post-divorce and said, ‘We are both totally committed to raising our son and being in love with our son.’
‘I do believe our relationship will be constantly changing…it’s a very remarkably complex period of my life.’
Before his relationship with Brianna Ruffalo, Josh also dated model Rachel Mortenson – but the pair seemingly split in late 2021 after he wiped his Instagram clean and unfollowed her.
The engagement news comes after Lucas spilled the tea on the final chapter of Yellowstone, hinting that fans can expect a supersized send-off.
The actor revealed that he spoke with the show’s creator about the second half of Season 5, which begins production this summer after a substantial delay.
‘I texted [creator] Taylor Sheridan a couple months ago, and his response was, “Absolutely, we’re going to finish this with 10 episodes or so,”‘ Josh told Entertainment Tonight.
The initial segment of Season 5 comprised eight episodes and concluded in January, with the anticipation of the second part’s premiere in November.
After speaking with Taylor, Josh, who plays the younger John Dutton (Kevin Costner’s character) in flashback scenes, said he expects to saddle up once again for Season 5, Part 2.
‘I said, “Hey man, I’ve loved working on the show so much” and he’s like, “Well we’ll be back,”‘ Josh explained. ‘I can’t wait to go do it.’
Regarding the potential for a spin-off showcasing Lucas in the role of the Montana rancher, Josh said, ‘Man, from your lips to God’s ears. I would love it.’
He added: ‘I mean, obviously I love the world Taylor has created. I love seeing the generational aspect, the time aspect, obviously the 1800s on. So yeah, I would be there in a second.’
