Throughout Yellowstone‘s run, Rip was a fixer for the Dutton family, and concluded the show living on a ranch with his beloved Beth. The character proved to be extremely popular with viewers throughout Yellowstone‘s five seasons, and Hauser has opened up on the aggressive experiences he has had as a result of the show’s success.
In an exclusive interview with Page Six, Hauser discussed some of the craziest interactions he has had with Rip fans. He detailed that some older women have gotten a little hands-on with him in the past, which he found “strange.” However, he stated that most fan interactions he has had have been very respectful.
I’ve had some old women grab my ass. It’s been a little bit … a little bit strange. But for the most part of it, everyone’s been very respectful, but I think when the older ladies get a few drinks in them, they get a little aggressive.
What This Means For Hauser’s Yellowstone Experiences
As an actor, being in the public eye is going to bring attention, and some of it is going to be unwanted. This is part of the job. However, that does not make it acceptable for anyone to grope or be inappropriate towards Hauser, or with any other actors, especially when they are portraying a fictional character.
It’s good that he notes having had largely positive experiences, but also shows the murkier side of fandom. While the “older ladies” he mentions may have been drunk and being “playful” with Rip, it highlights the fact that many fans feel like they know actors better than they do, which can lead to an invasion of personal space and boundaries.
Our Take On Hauser’s Future Fan Interactions
Unfortunately, this is likely something Hauser could experience again, especially with The Dutton Ranch spinoff show yet to air. But moving on to other projects may result in some less negative experiences with fans.
The Dutton Ranch will look to improve and enhance the Yellowstone franchise further, while also giving more attention to interesting and popular characters like Rip and Beth. Hopefully, as the series continues,Hauser will only have to deal with respectful interactions from viewers.
