‘Yellowstone’ Preview Hints At Show’s Future Without Kevin Costner

It appears “Yellowstone” fans have a pretty good indication of what the final episodes will focus on.

The hit neo-Western series from Taylor Sheridan returns November 10th on Paramount Network, and it’s going to be fascinating to see how the final season wraps up.

Kevin Costner isn’t returning, the show went on break at the start of 2023 and fans have a ton of questions. Mostly, how the hell can the series wrap itself up if the man who plays John Dutton isn’t returning?

Well, it appears we actually have a pretty solid idea.

“Yellowstone” drops short promo ahead of show’s return.

The show’s official X page released a short promo for the show’s return, and it appears the plot is going to focus on something that won’t surprise die-hard fans:

The battle between Jamie and Beth.

For those of you who might not remember, the first half of season five ended with Jamie and Beth seemingly both making plans to kill the other. It’s been a long time coming, and it appears that whatever carnage remains to be settled between them is what the final episodes will focus on.

Another thing that this preview tells me is that even without Costner returning, John Dutton will still be an important part of the remaining episodes.

Can that happen with the Dutton patriarch dead? Of course it can. Taylor Sheridan can kill him off screen, and then it’s just a constant discussion and plot point.

After all, I’m pretty confident all that footage was from episodes that already aired. The argument between Jamie and Beth absolutely was from the end of season 5A.

However, it’s clear Paramount Network and everyone responsible for promoting the return of “Yellowstone” want to focus on the Jamie/Beth feud. There’s really no other ending that makes sense at this point. Either one has to die or both have to die.

The latter makes the most sense, but keeping Beth alive might be a necessity for any future spinoffs with Kelly Reilly.
