Yellowstone announces new premiere date as it continues to air on CBS

Yellowstone’s run on CBS will continue after the New Year with season 3.

Via Dexerto, it’s been confirmed that the first three instalments of the western’s third season are airing on January 14, with the remaining seven being rolled out every Sunday from then on.

This series was originally broadcast on the Paramount Network between June and August 2020.

Meanwhile, the Yellowstone machine is churning out another two spin-offs following the success of 1923 (starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren) and 1883 (Tim McGraw and Faith Hill).

Their titles are reportedly 1944 and 2024, with True Detective favourite Matthew McConaughey playing the lead in one of them.

In a statement, Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios president Chris McCarthy shared: “Within five years, we grew Yellowstone from a hit US cable show with five million viewers into a global hit franchise with over 100 million fans around the world and multiple extensions – and, we’re just getting started.

“On the heels of 1883 and 1923’s success, our new planned spinoffs, 1944 and 2024, will take audiences on a thrilling, new and unexpected journey with the complex and compelling storytelling that has become a hallmark of the franchise and has helped turn it into a worldwide cultural phenomenon – thanks to the creative mastermind of Taylor Sheridan.”

Sheridan himself said of McConaughey’s involvement: “He seems like a natural fit. We had a few conversations over the years, and spitballed a few ideas. Then he started watching Yellowstone and responded to it.

“He was like, ‘I want to do that’. And by ‘that’, he meant diving into a raw world clashing up against the modern world. And then I said, ‘Buddy, that we can do’.”
