1923 star Cole Brings Plenty has died, aged 27.
The death of the actor, who played Pete Plenty Clouds in the Yellowstone prequel, was confirmed on Friday (April 5), after he was reported missing days earlier (via the BBC).
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that officers found Plenty’s body in a wooded area outside Kansas City, and confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.
In an Instagram post, Yellowstone’s Moses Brings Plenty shared the news of his nephew’s passing by posting a statement from his brother Joe, Plenty’s father.
“I am deeply saddened to confirm that my son, Cole, has been found and is no longer with us,” thestatement reads.
“We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the prayers and positive thoughts you sent for Cole. We would also like to thank everyone who came to walk beside us as we searched for my son and provided the resources we needed to expand our search areas. I learned this week how many people knew the goodness in Cole’s heart and loved him.
“During this incredibly difficult time, we ask for privacy as we process our grief and figure out how we move forward. Please know we appreciate you and appreciate your understanding.”
Following the news, several Yellowstone stars have shared tributes honouring Plenty’s memory.
Hassie Harrison, who portrays Laramie in the series, wrote on Instagram: “Oh, Mo. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Sending love and light to your whole family.”
“Mo I’m so saddened to learn this… sending you & your family love,” added Wendy Moniz, who portrays Governor Lynelle Perry.
Plenty’s family reported him missing on Tuesday (April 2), after he “missed an appointment with his agent for a TV show, which is uncharacteristic for him.”
The actor’s disappearance followed an investigation into his suspected involvement in a domestic violence case, in which the Lawrence Kansas Police Department said it had “probable cause for his arrest.”
Plenty appeared in two episodes of 1923’s first season, which starred Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. The actor also had roles in Western dramas Into The Wild Frontier and The Tall Tales of Jim Bridger.
