Will Trent just started Season 2 but is already taking a break. Why is that, and when do new episodes return?
Like all network shows, WIll Trent Season 2 was delayed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes hitting Hollywood in 2023. That put off production until late in the year, with ABC deciding to hold off shows until mid-February.
Since premiering, Will Trent has been doing well in storylines, from Will hunting a bomber who killed a friend of his to Angie wrestling with being back on the force. It’s been a good start, so it’s very frustrating for fans that after just three episodes, the series is already set for a break for a few weeks.
A reason is that ABC isn’t running a normal schedule this year due to the strikes, with many shows only having 10 to 13 episodes. We don’t have an exact episode count for Will Trent Season 2, but it’s likely hitting only 13, and possibly most weren’t completed when it premiered.
Thus, ABC wants to hold off on episodes to run them without breaks through April and May. It’s annoying but another sign of how the strikes played havoc on the networks’ schedule.
When does Will Trent return?
The show will return on Tuesday, March 26 with Episode 4 “It’s Easier to Handcuff a Human Being.” The promo shows Will and Faith investigating the disappearance of some college kids that appears to be linked to a supposed supernatural creature.
Will Trent isn’t alone as The Rookie and The Good Doctor will also air reruns on Tuesday, March 12. Both shows will air their current season premieres. ABC hasn’t confirmed its Tuesday, March 19 schedule yet. So it’s a brief break for fans but hopefully, Will Trent makes up for it when it does return.
Will Trent Season 2 returns on Tuesday, March 26 at 8/7c on ABC. Catch up on Hulu.
