“Wild World” Shakes Up Station 19: Episode 4×02 Breakdown and Key Moments!

Hi everyone! How’s everything going? It’s taken me a while to write, but I work in the tourism sector, and right now is my busiest time. I can always find time to tell you the story of our beloved Maya and Carina , and we’re here to give it our all! So… here we go!

We start season 4 in episode two because in the first episode not much happened between our girls but in this one things worth watching are going to happen. The episode begins with Andy going to a park where she has met up with her uncles and her cousin with whom she has recently gotten back together.

At the fire station, Maya is video conferencing with Carina and they have this conversation:

Maya: You could come see me.
Carina: It’s not safe. Think of all the people we interact with.
Maya: This is torture. It’s been three weeks.
Carina: But if my boss doesn’t see her husband, I can’t see my girlfriend.
Maya: And a little visit? No kissing.
Carina: It’s not safe, and it’s impossible.

It turns out that this season, Station 19 is recreating the worst part of the pandemic, when you couldn’t have any kind of physical contact and had to wear a mask everywhere.

Our girls continue doing their thing:

Maya: (unbuttoning her shirt slightly) Aren’t you curious?
Carina: It’s wrong of you to make me so happy at work, in a hospital, and in the middle of a pandemic.

And they leave it there because they have to go to work.

Jack is at the park gym, video chatting with Inara, a woman he and her son rescued from her abuser, who found her a new home with a lonely older woman. Just then, Maya arrives, and they start talking. Maya, like the entire park, thinks Jack has a thing for Inara because that’s the tendency this guy has, a woman he meets, a woman he’s hooking up with. But he claims they’re just friends. Maya then tells him to leave the gym because, in her own words, “My jealous Italian girlfriend won’t let me be alone with you.”

Warren and Travis are in the truck to answer a call. Travis’s phone rings, and Warren wants to know who it is. Travis replies that it’s his father, but Warren doesn’t believe him. They end up talking about how Travis doesn’t get along with his parents.

Once at the scene, they find a woman lying on the ground covered in blood. The mailman is with her and is the one who gave the notice. According to reports, the woman was screaming “Lorelei” when he found her like that. Travis goes to find out who Lorelei is, and when he looks out onto the terrace, he looks scared. Later, we discover that the woman has an exotic pet, none other than a Bengal tiger, and what’s more, it has escaped and is running loose in the city.

Vic and Jack are in the truck traveling the streets of Seattle to warn through the loudspeaker that there is a wild animal on the loose and that please stay home and close the windows. Maya and Dean are doing the same in another truck, one of the times that Maya has just spoken through the loudspeaker, she says that she misses Carina, that just when they returned the pandemic started, the captain thinks that being always separated is a bit extreme but that the other option is to move in together, an idea that also seems extreme to her, then Dean tells her to talk to Carina and be clear with her, which leaves the firefighter thoughtful.

We go back to the park where Andy is with her family. She and her cousin are alone together, and her cousin tells her that she’s a lesbian, that her parents didn’t take it well when she came out, and that they still refer to her girlfriend as “her friend.”

Travis and Warren are in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, at one point Travis has to stop the ambulance so Warren can save the patient, and just at that moment the tiger appears.

Maya, Dean, Vic and Jack arrive back at the park and the captain tells them to close all the gates in case the tiger gets in.

Warren and Travis are outside the hospital certifying the patient’s death, and as they go to bring her in, Carina comes out screaming. Warren approaches her to ask if she’s okay. Carina says she’s lost another patient, that in one month she’s lost more patients than in her entire career. She then says she’s going through all of this alone. Warren asks her why he’s not with Maya, and Carina explains that if he and Bailey are separated, they should be too. Warren tells her that they don’t have children and that they’re healthy, and that they don’t have to be separated.

Then she goes to where Travis is disinfecting the ambulance and is furious. Travis pretends to be pissed off at the patient for having a tiger in the house, but it’s just a way of covering up the fact that he discovered his dad, who’s in the closet, on a dating app.

Back at the park, Dean and Jack are talking, and Jack tells Dean to be quiet for a second. It turns out the tiger has entered the park. In the midst of the confusion, Vic ends up walking right into the area where the animal is and runs head-on into it. Maya and Jack try to instruct him to go to the gate where they are, but they complicate things even more when she tells him to move slowly and he tells him to stay still. Then, Dean tries to stall him from above and throws him meat, this way Vic can make his way to Maya and Jack and get to safety.

After a while, the people from the animal center finally arrive to take the tiger away. Someone calls Maya’s cell phone and she goes to her office. While she’s talking, Carina comes in and closes the door. Maya has her back turned and when she turns around she sees her:

Maya: Is that really you, or is it tiredness?
Carina: Both, I think.
Maya: What?
Carina: I missed you, so I brought you something.
Maya: I’m going to start distancing myself before I break the rules.
Carina: Fine.
Maya: Move in with me.
Carina: What?
Maya: Quarantining is basically moving out. And I don’t want to do just anything with you. I want to do everything. And I know we’ve only been together for three days since I betrayed your trust, but I hope… asking you to move in with me shows that I’m serious.
Carina: Well… I came to tell you the same thing. (Showing two PCR tests) I’ll do yours, and you’ll do mine.
Maya: How do you make a nasal swab sound sexy?

And that’s it for today’s chapter! See you in the next one!
