Why The Rookie Season 8 Must Bring Back This Fed Character After That Mind-Blowing Season 7 Cameo!

The Rookie season 7 ended on a huge cliffhanger with Oscar escaping prison, bringing back FBI Agent Matthew Garza into the fold. Agent Garza is an FBI Supervisory Special Agent, working at the FBI Los Angeles Field Division – Special Investigative Unit as the Team Leader. He was first seen in the backdoor pilot for The Rookie: Feds in The Rookie season 4, episode 19, titled “Simone.” He appeared in the backdoor pilot alongside Simone Clark (Niecy Nash), both essential characters in The Rookie: Feds.

During his time on The Rookie: Feds, Garza was reluctant to welcome Clark, as she was a rookie FBI agent and an older one he wasn’t too keen about working with. However, Garza had some issues, as his supervisor, Tracey Chiles, attempted to blackmail Carter Hope for information so she could get his unit shut down. Garza was then arrested for spying and had to receive immediate surgery after he collapsed at the grave of the deceased woman he dated. Despite being a huge target on The Rookie: Feds, Garza should still return to The Rookie.

Agent Garza Made An Appearance At The End Of Season 7, Episode 18

As if The Rookie season 7 finale wasn’t riveting enough, the audience got to see the return of Agent Garza. Although the scene was short, his return opened the door to exciting possibilities for Garza and maybe other The Rookie: Feds cast members. As one of the standout characters, Garza’s appearance may not have been just a simple cameo. His interaction with the cast at the end of the season hinted at unfinished business and possibly indicated a larger role in season 8. While his presence didn’t change the season’s plot, it did seem like the writers were laying the groundwork for something more.
