Since 2003, Judi Evans has entertained fans as the brassy, unpredictable, and often comedic spitfire, Bonnie, on Days of Our Lives. Although she started off as a con artist who engaged in scams and even hid her dead husband’s bones, she’s become a reliable denizen of Salem. Recently, she recovered from falling down an elevator shaft while working on the soap-within-a-soap, Body & Soul, playing Cassandra Lovegoode. In real life, Evans may have a new career that could supplement or even eclipse her daytime job.
What Else Is Life About?
Evans shared a photo of herself on a stage, talking into a microphone, on Instagram, and enthusiastically captioned it, “Last week I did something terrifying and empowering, I went to an open mic and did a stand-up set. It was a thrill! I want to push myself to do things that scare me — because what else is life about? I decided to audition for another stand-up competition — and I got in!!”
She then explained that her next gig would be at Burbank’s Flapper Comedy Club, and concluded with, “It will only be my second time on stage, so be gentle…but come say hi and giggle with me!” Wally Kurth, who plays Bonnie’s husband Justin, commented, “Sweet! Proud of you Judi👏👏.”
Her Comedy Was Encouraged
Former DAYS star, Julie Dove, who played the deranged Connie Vininski, eagerly responded, “Got my ticket!” While Paul Telfer (Xander) wrote, “Brava!!” Abigail Klein responded, “THIS!!! You + open mic is exactly what we all want and neeeeed!!!!! Go Judi, go!” Stacy Haiduk, aka the bad girl known as Kristen, wrote, “That is soooo awesome!!!!!! 👏👏.”
Stephen Nichols (Steve) lovingly commented, “Amazing, Judy. I know you’re rockin’ it!♥️” And Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), who’s actually no relation despite the name and resemblance, wrote, “Wow. Good for you!!!!”
