Why ‘Ghosts’ Season 5 Is the Feel-Good Comedy We All Need in 2025

CBS’s joyous comedy series Ghosts has been confirmed for a fifth and sixth season, which is music to the ears for everyone and anyone who’s fallen in love with the eclectic group of spirits. Following Samantha and Jay Arondekar, the young couple inherit Woodstone Mansion from Sam’s distant relative. After a near-death experience, Sam can see and communicate with the mansion’s ghostly inhabitants — spirits from various historical periods who died on the property.

As Sam and Jay convert the mansion into a bed and breakfast, they form an unconventional family with their spectral housemates, tackling challenges while learning the ghosts’ unfinished business and personal histories. This feel-good show has captured people’s hearts with its silliness and fun nature, and as we wait patiently for more news, here’s a look at everything we know about Ghosts Season 5.

Keep Your Eyes Peeled at Halloween

Back in February, CBS officially renewed Ghosts for Seasons 5 and 6, following strong ratings for its fourth season. At first, the show was seen as an unexpected but welcome hit. Before season 2, Variety reported CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl’s thoughts, “It’s the most pleasant kind of surprise,” Material we fell in love with, a pilot we fell in love with. It’s like most hits, nothing screamed that, ‘hey, this is gonna be a breakout hit.’ We hoped for it. We always do. But it was a little bit of a departure from what we normally do.”

While there hasn’t been an official premiere date announced, Ghosts season 5 is expected to follow the show’s founding pattern with a Fall 2026 debut, likely in late September or early October, tying in nicely with the spooky season, remaining essential viewing on Thursday nights.

A Sea of Familiar Faces

The entire main cast is expected to return, including Rose McIver as Samantha and Utkarsh Ambudkar as Jay, the living owners of Woodstone Mansion. The ghostly ensemble will also be back, featuring Brandon Scott Jones (Captain Isaac), Richie Moriarty (Pete), Danielle Pinnock (Alberta), Asher Grodman (Trevor), Román Zaragoza (Sasappis), Rebecca Wisocky (Hetty), and Devan Chandler Long (Thorfinn).
