For the first time since Fire Country’s beginning, we don’t know what to expect from the firefighting drama, making it an exciting prospect for season 4. Fire Country season 3’s cliffhanger ending left the fate of three members of the Leone family unknown, with the worst being feared for Vince after the update about Billy Burke exiting Fire Country.
However, besides the massive question about the survival of Vince, Sharon, and Walter, most storylines were neatly wrapped by the end of Fire Country season 3. By cleverly hiding it behind Vince’s likely death, Three Rock’s destruction ended that Fire Country season 3 story. All other storylines were simultaneously also put on pause, giving season 4 an unprecedented chance.
Fire Country Season 3’s Ending Having No Loose Ends But The Cliffhanger Resets The Show
Fire Country season 3 ending without a clear answer about the fate of Walter, Sharon, and Vince makes that the biggest question of season 4 when it returns. Indeed, the catastrophic ending to that crisis can touch everyone in Edgewater and drastically make Fire Country season 4 affect every character in the show.
However, this also marks the first time Fire Country’s storylines have a clean slate at the beginning of a new season. Between Fire Country seasons 1 and 2, the question of whether Bode’s return to prison was definitive hung in the balance. Similarly, season 2’s cliffhanger ending about Bode and Gabriela and Manny’s arrest heavily shaped season 3.
Fire Country season 4 instead has the chance to let go of previous problems, like Bode’s incarceration history and the possibility of his return, as it will start with such a seismic shift in the form of Vince’s likely death that all other previous storylines will matter less at the beginning of season 4.
The death of a Leone makes everything else less important in the context of how it will change the firefighting drama and shape new Fire Country storylines to be directly a result of that, rather than previous developments. This can be Fire Country’s chance to renovate itself after some storylines that recurred so much without mutating that they became stale.
Why Fire Country Season 4’s Fresh Start Is Good News For The Firefighting Drama
Fire Country began by focusing on Bode’s difficult reunion with his family and his role within Cal Fire’s fire camp programs. Both storylines have been exhausted by Fire Country season 3’s end, at least with Bode in their midst, as he moved on by becoming a Cal Fire firefighter and working on his relationship with Vince.
Although unrelated to Vince and the Leones, Arcila’s exit, resulting in Gabriela’s departure, also makes a fresh start possible for Fire Country season 4. Bode and Gabriela’s relationship story was Fire Country’s focus well after it stopped making sense, whether because they wanted different things or their moment had passed.
Both departures thus give Fire Country season 4 a chance that it never had before. Indeed, the firefighting drama now has a good enough reason to change its focus because of how massively important these departures are. Hopefully, this can mean Fire Country’s story is revitalized as a result.
