Firefighter Joe Cruz on “Chicago Fire,” played by actor Joe Minoso, hasn’t had it easy on the show since Season 9. In an interview with TV Insider, Minoso had this to say: “In the first few episodes, we’re going to see Cruz deal with a real psychological trauma after the incident of the boat capsizing, which is causing difficult for us.” for him to perform his daily duties as a firefighter, especially as a member of the Squad.” He continued to explain, “It will take the entire team’s help to see if they Can I get Cruz out of that mindset and back to a place where he can actually attack the job the way he usually does.”
However, there were happy moments that occurred in Cruz’s life. According to Showbiz Cheat Sheet, the character is expecting a child and fans are hoping he will choose a specific name for the new addition.
Fans want Cruz to remember a fallen friend
“Chicago Fire” fans are hoping Joe Cruz will name his newborn baby after a deceased friend. During the show’s season 8 premiere, firefighter Brian “Otis” Zvonecek was killed (via The Sun). Cruz and Otis were close friends, and Cruz was present when Otis passed away. He even told him: “Brother, I will always be with you” in Russian when he died. What a sad story!
Fans were disappointed when the show killed off Otis, a favorite in the cast. When asked why they chose to kill him off, executive producer Derek Haas said, “We thought, what if we killed Otis and he died heroically? We realized that yes there’s a lot of emotional context that we can cover.”
