Who’s Returning for ‘Tracker’ Season 2?
Many Shaw family mysteries will be explored amid some epic saves when Tracker returns for Season 2 this fall. The Justin Hartley-led series has proven a fan favorite thanks to the weight of its characters, including its guest stars. They make up a big part of the mystery and action, and all of its cast members will be back for Season 2. Hartely previewed the returning stars and what the season has in store for them with TV Insider, revealing their first episodes and what their emotional arcs will be like. Jensen Ackles returns early in the season as Russell and Colter delve deeper into the Shaw family mysteries. Hartley spoke about the brothers’ next adventure, saying, “Russell is also pretty heroic in Episode 2, and they get involved in a really dark operation, a weird thing.
And these government officials start asking about our dad out of the blue, and you’re like, ‘Oh, what’s this all about?’ So in every episode, it could be Dad becoming a little more vindicated, or it could be completely insane. We don’t know. We’re going to dig a little deeper into that.” Hartley’s wife, Sofia Pernas, guest-starred as Billie in Season 1, and the chemistry between Colter and his tracking rival was off the charts. Pernas returns in Episode 3, and Hartley is thrilled to have her. “Oh, she’s the best and she’s so talented… Those were my favorite days in the world when I got to work with her,” he said. Even seasoned trackers need help sometimes, and Billie knocked on Colter’s door to ask for something. “And of course, he was like, ‘You need help, huh?’ Like, ‘Okay, then ask. I’ll help you. You have to ask me,’ that kind of thing,” Hartley previewed their dynamic.
As for Colter’s sister, Harltey didn’t reveal her exact debut episode, since Melissa Roxburgh is a main cast member on The Hunting Party, and she’s pretty busy. However, “her show wrapped [production] before we wrapped so we could have her back for the final episodes of the show,” Hartley said. Jennifer Morrison will also return in a dual role. She’ll direct Episode 6, and Hartley said he’s “certain her character will be back.”
Tracker returns for a bigger Season 2 in more ways than one. CBS has ordered more episodes for the second season. That means more story and action. Hartley said he’d love to do “a third, a fourth, a fifth, a fourth … six” of the show and that “it’s going to be awesome”.
