A familiar face is coming to Will Trent Season 3, and she could very well be coming to shake things up romantically. But what does the new addition to Season 3 of Will Trent look like?
Who Are the New Will Trent Season 3 Cast Members?
Deadline is reporting that Gina Rodriguez is joining the cast of Will Trent for Season 3. Rodriguez will play Marion Alba, a “charismatic, confident Assistant District Attorney new to Atlanta.”
Details on if we can expect sparks to fly between her and the titular Will Trent have not yet been revealed, but considering the rest of the character description reads “After her first encounter with Will falls flat, the pair is surprised to learn that they must work together to investigate a crime in the world of Atlanta gangs,” it wouldn’t be surprising to learn there’s a love triangle coming in Will Trent Season 3. Another interesting possibility for Rodriguez would be a season-long arc as a villain to outsmart the titular character.
The show is based on Karin Slaughter’s NY Times bestselling Will Trent book series. It follows Special Agent Will Trent (Ramón Rodriguez) of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, who after a rough childhood in the foster care system uses his unique point of view to pursue justice. The series first premiered in January 2023 and is currently going on its third season.Rodriguez’s character could be coming in to introduce a possible different romantic dynamic to the one Trent shares with Angie (Erika Christensen), his oldest friend and on-again, off-again girlfriend. The pair met as children in foster care and from then on developed a relationship that could be considered somewhat co-dependent. As they grew up, their relationship turned romantic, but their issues have made it hard for them to maintain a healthy relationship. Towards the end of Season 2, however, it seemed like they were finally figuring out how to make it all work. At least until Will was forced to arrest Angie in the Season 2 finale for tampering with evidence.
Will Trent also stars Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell and Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood.
Rodriguez rose to fame after starring as Jane Villanueva in the show Jane the Virgin. She co-hosts the ABC game show Lucky 13 alongside Shaquille O’Neal and recently starred on ABC’s Not Dead Yet and Disney+’s Diary of a Future President.
