Which Bridgerton Book Reigns Supreme? A Reader’s Guide to the Beloved Series

As soon as Bridgerton graced our screens in 2020, we couldn’t get enough of the romantic Regency world. Insatiable as we are, the wait in between seasons feels like forever — so we started consuming Bridgerton in its original form, aka author Julia Quinn’s eight-book series.

From the get-go, we understood what Shondaland saw in it. Each Bridgerton kid gets their own swoonworthy, unputdownable love story. Like the show, the first two books follow Daphne and Anthony. An Offer From a Gentleman charts Benedict’s Cinderella-esque romance with a maid, which will unfold in the upcoming fourth season of the Netflix drama. Book four depicts Colin and Penelope’s tumultuous journey from friends to lovers, a story that fans already saw unfold in Bridgerton Season 3.

If you skipped ahead of the show like we did, you know that the fifth book belongs to the independent Eloise, who was historically averse to marriage. The next installment, When He Was Wicked, stands apart from the others as it sees a widowed Francesca find a second chance at love. The brazen Hyacinth meets her match in It’s in His Kiss, which also puts her in charge of solving a mystery. And last but not least, Gregory has a forbidden romance in the final book of the main series.

Dearest gentle reader, we’ll task you with making the final decision: Which Bridgerton book is the best? Tell us in the poll below, and take the debate to the comments, if you so choose.
