“What’s next for Severide and Damon after the shocking twist on Chicago Fire?”
Following the Chicago Fire season 12 finale, Kelly Severide and Jack Damon had grown closer as brothers, but episode 3 of season 13 may have permanently ended their burgeoning relationship. Severide learned that he and Damon were half-brothers on Chicago Fire, which made him protective of the younger character. However, Damon crossed the line near the beginning of season 13, forcing Severide to choose between his brother or his wife, Stella Kidd. Unfortunately, by the end of episode 3, Damon’s actions and Severide’s choices led to a rift between the two characters.
One of the most dramatic plot twists in Chicago Fire’s season 12 finale involved Severide discovering his true connection to Damon, who had just joined Kidd’s Truck 81 team at Firehouse 51. Viewers had to wait until the season 13 premiere to see Severide’s reaction to the news. He seemed excited in episode 1 when he pledged to protect Damon at the station. Meanwhile, Damon, who idolized Severide, was happy to learn from him. But instead, Damon’s youth reared its ugly head, showing off his immaturity and sense of entitlement as Severide’s older brother.
At the start of Chicago Fire season 13, episode 2, Firehouse 51 responded to a call about a woman trapped under a boat. Kidd gave Damon specific orders on the scene, but he ignored them in favor of playing the hero. She later confronts him about his insubordination, but Damon insists that he couldn’t hear his lieutenant. However, Damon later confesses to Severide that he heard Kidd, and Severide must decide whether to protect his brother or tell his wife the truth. Ultimately, he chooses to confess to Kidd, betraying Damon’s trust in Damon’s eyes. One episode later, Damon is fired from Fire Department 51. Kidd meets with Chief Dom Pascal in episode 3 to inform him of Damon’s misconduct and explains that she wants to return him to the floating pool. However, she does not receive the response she wants. Pascal initially blames Kidd because he is wary of Truck 81’s high turnover rate and is upset that Kidd never expressed any doubts about Damon before. As a result, the new chief debates whether Kidd or Damon should leave. However, Mouch came to her rescue and showed Pascal proof of why Kidd was a great leader. As a result, Pascal fired Damon in Chicago Fire season 13, episode 3. As mentioned above, Damon’s youth and immaturity played a major role in his firing and subsequent fight with Severide in Chicago Fire season 13, episode 3. After Pascal fired him from Firehouse 51, Damon confronted his brother. He was quite angry that Severide had told Kidd the truth about his actions during the boat call, essentially blaming Severide for firing him. Damon claimed that Severide had abandoned him, and even said that he was just like their father, Benny Severide.
Now that Damon is no longer working at Firehouse 51 and the brothers have fallen out, this could be the end of the line for Severide and Damon, as Damon may be leaving the Chicago Fire season 13 cast.
It’s safe to say that Severide and Damon’s relationship is beyond repair after episode 3. Comparing Severide to his father is probably the worst thing anyone could do to him. Plus, knowing Damon’s tumultuous past with Benny, Damon putting Severide in the same group as their father could be the point of no return for him. Now that Damon is no longer working at Firehouse 51 and the brothers have fallen out, this could be the end of the line for Severide and Damon, as Damon may be leaving the Chicago Fire season 13 cast.
