What Vanessa Ray loved most about Eddie and Jamie in Blue Bloods

From the moment Eddie Janko (Vanessa Ray) appeared as Jamie Reagan’s (Will Estes) new partner in Season 4 of “Blue Bloods,” there was instant chemistry. The rookie officer trying to separate himself from his comfortable childhood and prove himself as a capable cop attracted the youngest Reagan as well as admirers.

While the two officers tried valiantly to keep their relationship professional for many years while they worked together, eventually, they gave in and became an item. While fans were left surprised when the two decided to become a couple, moments remained hanging in the air every time viewers thought they were about to cross the line. However, the writers had a different goal, as they stretched that particular story for five years before they finally went from forbidden lovers to an engaged couple in just one episode.

Since then, fans have watched the couple navigate one dynamic at work (Jamie being the boss) and another at home (an equal partnership). But how do the actors feel about the future of the two characters and how they will handle their relationship? Vanessa Ray gave her insight into their relationship and what makes them work so well.

Ray believes that their differences are their strengths

During an interview with Nerds of Color, Vanessa Ray took the opportunity to share her thoughts on all things Jamko. While there are growing pains in every relationship, she seems to think those growing pains are what make Eddie and Jamie so strong as a couple.

“I love that they see the world differently and challenge each other to be better, do better and go further. It’s not always easy for them, but they wouldn’t be who they are without the other person.” She continued, “I also love that they are two no-nonsense cops, both of whom have an extremely tender side that they mostly only show to each other.”

Seeing the world from a different perspective is fundamentally at the core of “Blue Bloods.” This idea is explored in almost every episode during the Reagan family’s traditional dinner. So while Eddie and Jamie’s disagreements may not always be easy, it’s basically the same as the Reagans.

“I hope that we are showing viewers that if love is strong in a relationship, you can disagree and still get along,” Ray said when asked about the family dinner scene . “Reagans come together REGARDLESS of their differences. I hope our viewers will find ways to do the same in their own ways.”

Despite any arguments or differing opinions, Jamie and Eddie act like any good Reagan and always come together at the end of the day.
