What to Watch the Week of October 20: Revealing Golden Bachelorette Hometown Dates and Emotional Return of Young Sheldon’s Missy

This week’s must-watch TV lineup brings a mix of high emotions and significant reveals, with The Golden Bachelorette leading the charge as Joan Vassos visits the hometowns of her four remaining suitors. We also see the return of Raegan Revord in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, reprising her role as Missy, which promises to be an emotional roller coaster for both the character and fans.

The Golden Bachelorette Hometown Dates

On this week’s episode of The Golden Bachelorette, Joan embarks on the highly anticipated Hometown dates, where she meets the families of her final four men. As she heads to visit Chock Chapple, Pascal Ibgui, Guy Gansert, and Jordan Heller, viewers are in for a closer look at how these relationships might progress.

In last week’s episode, fan-favorite Mark Anderson was sent home, as predicted. While Mark, the soft-spoken and kind father of Kelsey, won over viewers, he didn’t assert himself in the way Joan seems to need in a partner. In contrast, Chock, who is very vocal about his feelings for Joan, has emerged as a front-runner, although some viewers find him a bit overbearing with his constant compliments and declarations of affection.

I had speculated that Mark might be a candidate for the next Golden Bachelor, but after watching his subdued date with Joan, I’m not sure that’s a role he would be comfortable in. Fans, however, are still rooting for more screen time for Charles L., who has been gaining a loyal following.

As for Joan’s remaining suitors, the hometown visits include two in Chicago (for Pascal and Jordan), as well as trips to Chock’s home in Wichita, Kansas, and Guy’s in Reno, Nevada. While Chock seems to be a lock for the final three, it’s difficult to predict which of the others will not make it through. If Joan’s decision comes down to geography and her desire to stay close to her family in Maryland, Guy’s distant location in Reno may be a factor that works against him. But we’ll have to watch and see what unfolds on Wednesday’s episode.

Young Sheldon’s Raegan Revord Talks Missy’s Emotional Return

This week also marks Raegan Revord’s return as Missy Cooper in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The episode follows Missy as she navigates her grief over the loss of her father, George, while dealing with the growing pains of adolescence.

“We pick up a couple of months after George dies, so Missy is still struggling with her grief,” Revord explained in an interview with Glamour. “She gets suspended from school and calls Georgie to come pick her up. We see that she’s becoming that rebellious teen that was mentioned in The Big Bang Theory.”

For Revord, returning to Missy’s world was both emotional and nostalgic. The fictional Cooper home, once full of life, now feels lonely as Missy is left with just her mother, Mary. “Thinking about the two of them just sitting there alone eating dinner truly broke my heart,” Revord shared, reflecting on the changes in Missy’s life.

The episode was a particularly emotional experience for Revord, who has played Missy since 2017. Returning to the familiar set, seeing Missy’s bedroom, and stepping back into the character’s wardrobe brought up feelings of mourning for the show and its earlier, more carefree days. Revord’s performance in this episode is expected to resonate deeply with longtime fans of the character.
