CBS’ “FBI” spinoff “FBI: International” is closing out its fourth and final season with a high-stakes two-part finale that spans continents and delivers all the tension, twists, and emotional payoff fans have come to expect from the Dick Wolf universe. After airing the first half of the finale last week, the final episode, titled “Gaijin,” premieres Tuesday, May 20, and sees Jesse Lee Soffer’s character, Agent Wes Mitchell, traveling to Tokyo to confront a depraved serial killer who’s been evading justice across international borders.
Despite solid ratings, CBS pulled the plug on the second “FBI” spinoff earlier this year, making this mission the Fly Team’s last. And based on what we know, they’re going out with a bang.
‘FBI: International’ Series Finale Part One Raised the Stakes for the Team
The first part of the finale, titled “Herbivore Man,” introduced viewers to a disturbing case involving the murder of an American sex worker. The investigation quickly revealed that this wasn’t an isolated incident—she was one of several victims of a serial killer who had escalated to training others in his sick methods.
The suspense ratcheted up when Agent Tyler Booth, played by “Station 19’s” Jay Hayden, seemed poised to exit the show in a body bag. The character revealed that this case would be his last with the Fly Team, and a harrowing foot chase through Budapest traffic only amplified the feeling that something tragic might be coming. Though Tyler ultimately survived the episode, fans were left wondering if everyone will make it through the finale unscathed—especially with Wes heading into unfamiliar territory in Japan.

Mitchell Lands in Tokyo to Finish What They Started
CBS has released official photos and a logline previewing the final “FBI: International” episode titled “Gaijin.” The images show Agent Wes Mitchell (Soffer) on the ground in Tokyo, working closely with Detective Reiko Isokawa (Yoriko Haraguchi) as they pursue a dangerous serial killer. According to CBS, “The Fly Team discovers they’re on the trail of a serial killer, taking the investigation, and Mitchell, to Japan to put an end to the international killing spree.”
In the photos, Mitchell and Reiko canvass the streets, interview witnesses, and follow leads under the watchful eye of Superintendent Kosuke Kubo (Shintaro Kanaoya), who appears less than thrilled about foreign involvement in his jurisdiction. Though Mitchell brings his usual confidence, the Tokyo setting introduces new cultural and procedural challenges that test his adaptability.
The images also hint at a chilling discovery—the duo appears to locate the killer’s hideout, where evidence suggests the number of victims is far greater than initially believed.
While Mitchell takes point in Japan, the rest of the Fly Team remains stationed in Budapest, offering remote support in what will be their final case together. Though physically distant, their role proves crucial as the investigation races toward its dramatic conclusion.
The End of the Road for ‘FBI: International’
“Gaijin” marks the end of “FBI: International”’s run on CBS. Despite strong performances and a loyal fan base, the show wasn’t renewed for a fifth season.
“It’s not easy to end shows,” said CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach, according to Deadline. “We had to look at the schedule, creative trajectory, finances, and ratings to make that tough decision.”
No plans have been announced to move the series to another platform, making this final mission a true goodbye. “FBI: International” fans hoping for closure—or surprises—should tune in to CBS at 9 p.m. ET/PT or stream on Paramount+ the following day.
