What SEAL TEAM’s Final Season Will Bring for Jason Hayes (It’s Going to Be Intense)
Season 6 of SEAL TEAM ended with Jason Hayes revealing his struggles with trauma; heading into the show’s final season, the creators are focusing on that storyline and how it impacts the character’s future.
“For us, it’s like, okay, trauma is your first kill. How do you deal with that? So when we started the season, it was like, okay, this is the perfect way to end that cycle for this character,” David Borneaz, the actor who plays Hayes, told TV Insider.
“His mind is almost very familiar as he’s dealing with the beginning of what these operators go through,” he added. “It’s always been a consistent thread to Jason’s mind and its ultimate balance with his heart and what he thinks is balance that can’t be balanced or what he thinks is right is what he feels is the problem. The problem, the arduous task of a character like this is understanding those fleeting moments of emotion and then completely turning in a different direction with them and how they affect him.”
However, capturing those emotions and accurately portraying the hardships of being a SEAL was incredibly important to Borneaz. The impact the show has had on real-life SEALs by helping them feel seen and understood has been incredibly satisfying for the actor.
“It’s hard to research. It’s hard to portray those emotions. It’s hard. And I always come back to when you get messages from these real men or veterans saying, ‘Thank you for saving my life… I changed my life. I’m going to get help,’” he said. “We know we’re doing something right. We’ve always had that, and the success of the show for us is that.”
