While FBI: International failed to stick its landing, the FBI: Most Wanted series finale was mostly just right. However, there is one thing that could have been included that would have made it much more like a series finale.
Granted, this episode wasn’t initially going to be a series finale. The cancellation decision came as the finale was going through pre-production, and that gave everyone time to craft more of a series ender. For the most part, it worked. There were a couple of things that could have been better, but there’s one thing that stands out as a glaring error.
Barnes and Hana should have mentioned Jess in FBI: Most Wanted
As Remy retired and Barnes was announced as the new leader of the Fugitive Task Force, there was a chance for Barnes to make a speech. While yes, this had to be about Remy passing on the torch, there is something else that should have happened. She should have at least mentioned Jess LaCroix.
Only Hana and Barnes knew Jess in terms of working on the team, and he was important to both of them. In fact, Barnes struggled with the loss of Jess and having Remy come into the team. Remy was nothing like her former boss, and that was something she just had to get used to. Having Barnes mention him, especially considering Remy pointed out that they didn’t always get along, would have been a beautiful way to end the series.
Shouldn’t other past members have also been mentioned in the FBI: Most Wanted series finale?
I guess, in a way, this should have meant that other members of the team who had been and gone should have also been mentioned in the FBI: Most Wanted series finale. Clint and Crosby both left during the second and third seasons, respectively. They were also both close to Hana and Barnes. Then there were a few other characters who joined the team and left abruptly.
However, while they were important members of the team, none of their exits were on the same level as Jess’s. They weren’t killed in the line of duty, although Crosby almost was. It’s the death of the former leader that was the one thing that needed to be mentioned, especially as Barnes took over as the Fugitive Task Force.
I could even see a mention of it as Barnes noted that she couldn’t have done this the last time, as the grief was too much. Instead, it felt like former members had been forgotten about as FBI: Most Wanted came to an end.
