What are the stars of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ doing this summer?

We may have to wait a while to get new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy on our screens, but that doesn’t mean we have to go all summer long without our favorite actors in our lives. So many current and former Grey’s Anatomy stars have big projects coming out this season that you can check out, from Kevin McKidd’s tense new miniseries to Harry Shum Jr.’s children’s book (yes, really!) to Chris Carmack and Sophia Bush’s thrilling new movie.

So, when you’re done rewatching season 21 of Grey’s (and checking out Meredith Grey herself, aka Ellen Pompeo, in Hulu’s Good American Family miniseries if you missed it this spring), add these exciting releases to your list of summer must-sees.

Chris Carmack and Sophia Bush
Although they haven’t had any scenes together on Grey’s yet, Chris Carmack and Sophia Bush are sharing the screen this summer in a new movie called The Stranger in My Home. Out June 24 on various digital platforms, the nail-biting thriller stars Bush as a mom whose teenage daughter goes missing after a man (Carmack) shows up at her door claiming to be the girl’s father. It’s safe to say that it’s a long way from Grey Sloan.

Jesse Williams
Jesse Williams has kept himself busy. His upcoming projects include the highly anticipated summer movie What We Hide. Co-starring Mckenna Grace, the emotional thriller comes out this August. Williams is also spending the next few months at festivals promoting the new Amazon Prime action drama series Hotel Costiera, in which he both stars and co-produces. Expect to see that show later this year.

Camilla Luddington and Jessica Capshaw
Grey’s Anatomy co-stars and real-life besties Camilla Luddington and Jessica Capshaw will be releasing new episodes of their popular podcast Call It What It Is all summer long. The show just celebrated its one-year anniversary, and you can bet that the next batch of episodes will bring even more fun (and celebrity guests). You can tune in to each installment on iHeartRadio throughout the week.

Kevin McKidd
It’s not out in the United States yet, but British viewers can check out The Bombing of Pan Am 103, a new dramatic miniseries about the 1988 plane disaster featuring Grey’s Anatomy’s Kevin McKidd. The actor plays a police officer in the heartbreaking six-part show, which is produced by the BBC and will hit Netflix globally soon.

Harry Shum Jr.
In an extremely un-Benson Kwan move, actor Harry Shum Jr. is spending his summer promoting the recently released children’s book he co-wrote with Shelby Rabara. Called Martee Dares to Dance, it’s a sweet, inspiring story about a boy who learns to confidently show off his moves with the help of a Martian friend. If that wasn’t enough, Shum Jr.’s new movie, Do No Harm, debuted at an L.A. film festival on June 19!

Sandra Oh
If you see Smurfs in theaters this July, you’ll hear one very familiar voice (besides Rihanna’s Smurfette, that is). Sandra Oh plays Moxie, a young Smurf who teams with her family to save the captured Papa Smurf. But that’s not all; beginning in August, the Grey’s Anatomy icon will also be starring in a buzzy production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night in New York, which you can get tickets for now. Oh also just gave a commencement speech at Shonda Rhimes’ alma mater, Dartmouth — and Rhimes was in attendance!

Eric Dane
Speaking of Grey’s Anatomy alums, Eric Dane has a new TV show coming out this month called Countdown. Arriving on Amazon Prime on June 25, the crime drama stars Dane and Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles as undercover agents working to find a murderer and save L.A. from disaster. Dane also recently sat down with Good Morning America’s Diane Sawyer to discuss his ALS diagnosis. In a vulnerable, heart-wrenching interview the beloved actor discusses his symptoms, reuniting with his wife Rebecca Gayhart in the wake of his disease, and how his story isn’t finished yet.

Scott Speedman
Were you a fan of Felicity back in the day? Then you’re in luck because Scott Speedman will be revisiting his days on the show (as well as his career since) with former co-star Keri Russell as part of Variety’s latest Actors on Actors lineup. The fascinating interview, where the chemistry was palpable, dropped on YouTube on June 13.

Sarah Drew
The new episodes likely won’t be released until later this year, but season two of Hallmark’s Mistletoe Murders, which stars Grey’s Anatomy fan favorite Sarah Drew as a mysterious shop owner, is finishing up production this summer — and things seem to be going well for the popular show, despite Drew breaking her hand.

Debbie Allen
Just like her character Catherine Avery, Debbie Allen is not a fan of free time, instead choosing to fill her days with project after project. This summer, we’re sure she’ll be starting work on Grey’s Anatomy’s 22nd season (which she produces), teaching dance classes at her California dance academy, and developing a new Broadway musical based on the film Polly (which featured her sister, Phylicia Rashad! Quite the family), alongside her friend and Grey’s Anatomy guest star Lena Waithe.

Jason George
Jason George was in Paris on June 14 and 15! He took part in a convention honoring TV’s first responders, like his own Ben Warren. Along with the actor’s Grey’s Anatomy co-stars Kim Raver and Kevin McKidd, his Station 19 co-stars were there as well, including Merle Dandridge, Danielle Savre, Stefania Spampinato, and Tracie Thoms.

T.R. Knight
The actor whom fans of Grey’s will forever know as George O’Malley has the first and second seasons of his animated series The Bravest Knight (a fitting title, huh?) premiering on Hulu later this month. The kids’ show also features the voices of Christine Baranski and RuPaul, among others, and Knight plays the lead, Sir Cedric. And don’t miss Knight as Victor Creel in the theatrical production of Stranger Things!
