Young Sheldon might be over, but the story will continue with the spinoff series coming to CBS this fall. Called Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, the sequel series will primarily follow Montana Jordan’s Georgie and Emily Osment’s Mandy.
In an interview with ET, Osment shared what she knows about the Young Sheldon spinoff. She confirmed that she still has yet to read a script, but said that she’ll still be on the set “fairly soon.” While she couldn’t guarantee any specific plot details, Osment went on to suggest that the series will most likely pick up very soon after the events of the Young Sheldon series finale.
The second season of Young Sheldon is the best one for laughs and the sixth season is a great rewatch for fans of Georgie and Mandy’s relationship.
“I actually have not read anything yet but we’re starting fairly soon and we’re still in the process of pre-production,” Osment explained. “I assume it starts right where we left off, so there isn’t too big of a gap for our viewers in terms of, like, story or missing us too much. We just pick right up where we were.”

Osment also addressed one big change that the production will have compared to Young Sheldon. While the first Big Bang Theory prequel series was not filmed in front of a studio audience, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will be. Osment has experience with live audiences, going back to her Hannah Montana days, but it will be a new experience for Jordan. Osment noted that she’s “very excited to see how he grabs onto that.”
With Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage coming together, the creatives behind the series should remember the one character who made it all possible.
“Because of COVID I haven’t done live audience in a long time,” Osment also said of returning to the format. “And so now, you know, four years later, we’re actually able to open it up so we can have a live audience, which is tremendous, and allows us to have people right there in front of us, so we get to, you know, react off of, which is always my favorite part. It feels like live theater and it’s fun. Every Tuesday night it’s like throwing a party.”
Georgie and Mandy Lead Their Own Spinoff Series
The series will mostly follow Georgie and Mandy after they get their own home and focus on their lives as a new family. It’s not yet clear which other members of the Cooper family will appear in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, though cameos are likely to happen. Will Sasso and Rachel Bay Jones will reprise their roles as Mandy’s parents in the new series, where they’ll be featured in a much bigger capacity.
George & Mandy’s First Marriage will premiere on Sept. 1, 2024, on CBS.
