Alexandra Breckenridge is trading Virgin River’s cozy charm for a very different kind of holiday disguise. In Netflix’s festive rom-com My Secret Santa, the fan-favorite actress steps into an unexpected role — quite literally — as a single mom who dons a full Santa Claus persona to land a seasonal job at a luxury ski resort.
The film follows Taylor, a quick-thinking mom whose plan to survive the holidays involves fake beards, borrowed swagger, and a secret identity that becomes increasingly difficult to maintain. Complications arise when she starts falling for the resort’s hotel manager, Matthew, played by New Amsterdam alum Ryan Eggold. Romance, of course, was never part of the plan.
Breckenridge shines in a playful, comedic turn that’s a refreshing contrast to her dramatic work on Virgin River. Her chemistry with Eggold adds warmth and spark, making the story feel effortlessly festive rather than over-the-top. The supporting cast, including Tia Mowry and Madison MacIsaac, rounds out the movie with humor and heart.
