Virgin River’s Alexandra Breckenridge laughs as co-star breaks down in tears over ‘stupid’ moment on set
Virgin River star Zibby Allen couldn’t help but tear up during the taping of the show’s Christmas episodes
Virgin River’s Zibby Allen got quite emotional while filming the show’s Christmas episodes, in stark contrast to her co-star Alexandra Breckenridge.
Zibby, who plays Brie, the sister of Jack Sheridan (played by Martin Henderson), shared her teary-eyed experience during a new instalment of their podcast I Like You Very Much.
In conversation with fellow cast member Teryl Rothery, who plays Muriel St. Claire on the Netflix hit, they looked back fondly at the “song and dance” number from Virgin River’s festive pageant.
“It was so stupid,” she continued, “But it was just so cute and I got overwhelmed by it.”
While Zibby was sharing her heartfelt moment, Mel Monroe actress Alexandra could be heard laughing in the background.
“You’re the best, Zibby!” Teryl responded, as Alexandra was evidently amused.
“Alex is like, ‘for real?!'” Zibby joked, noting Alexandra’s bemused laughter.
Meanwhile, Alexandra disclosed: “I was laughing at things that were going on. Not you… other things that were happening at the time.
“Like Bert, in his outfit? Come on,” she said, referring to a visual gag involving Bert actor Trevor Lerner, whose holiday-themed beard became a talking point.
“I know, I loved it!” Zibby agreed. “It touched me. With his ornaments hanging off his beard, it was so extra.
“I think I was just so moved because I was like, ‘Is this real life? Like, are we in Virgin River?’ It was so precious.”
Despite a few giggles off-camera, Mel’s storyline in the recent season of Virgin River had viewers grabbing their tissues.
Mel went through heartbreak after suffering a miscarriage, later telling Jack she decided not to continue trying for children, which understandably left him heartbroken but ultimately supportive of her decision.
The plot thickens when Mel finds out that her biological father is living in the picturesque town, leading her to Everett Reid (John Allen Nelson), who initially rejects her.
However, he quickly comes to regret his decision and makes amends with his daughter before the show closes its two-part Christmas special. As questions hang in the air, fans are left wondering if Mel and her dad will have an easy time reconnecting as they wait for season six.
