Virgin River’s Alexandra Breckenridge laughs as co-star admits ‘stupid’ moment made her cry on set

Virgin River star Zibby Allen has opened up on the moment that made her cry on set, but co-star Alexandra Breckenridge couldn’t help but laugh at the admission

Zibby Allen, star of Virgin River, confessed to getting a bit emotional while filming the show’s popular Christmas episodes, something her co-star Alexandra Breckenridge couldn’t quite understand. Zibby, who is known for her role as Brie, Jack Sheridan’s (played by Martin Henderson) sister, shared this heartfelt moment on a new episode of their podcast I Like You Very Much.

In conversation with their fellow cast member Teryl Rothery, who plays Muriel St. Claire in the Netflix series, they fondly recalled her “song and dance” during Virgin River’s Christmas pageant.

“I cried in the audience!” Zibby confessed, eliciting sympathetic “awws” from the others. “It was so stupid,” she continued, “But it was just so cute and I got overwhelmed by it.”

As Zibby expressed her feelings, Alexandra, who plays Mel Monroe, could be heard laughing in the background.

“You’re the best, Zibby! ” Teryl responded, while Alexandra was clearly amused. “Alex is like, ‘for real?!'” Zibby joked as Alexandra looked at her, still laughing.

Meanwhile, Alexandra revealed: “I was laughing at things that were going on. Not you… other things that were going on at the time.

“Like Bert, in his outfit? Come on,” she added, as an image of Bert actor Trevor Lerner appeared on the screen, his beard festively lit up. “I know, I loved it!” Zibby exclaimed.

“It touched me. With his ornaments hanging off his beard, it was so extra.

“I think I was just so moved because I was like, ‘Is this real life? Like, are we in Virgin River?’ It was so precious.”

Despite the occasional burst of laughter from the sidelines, Mel’s plot in the latest season tugged at viewers’ heartstrings.

This series saw Mel face a heartbreaking miscarriage and subsequently telling Jack that they should stop trying for a baby, a decision which leaves him torn up but eventually supportive.

The twists keep coming as Mel later finds out her biological dad is none other than Everett Reid (John Allen Nelson), a local who initially rejects her. Yet by the end of the two-part Christmas special, he acknowledges his error, setting up a touching father-daughter reunion just as the credits begin to roll.

But the question remains – will their newfound bond survive without a hitch as we gear up for season six?
