Virgin River’s Alexandra Breckenridge Hints Season 7 Could Arrive Sooner Than Expected

Alexandra Breckenridge, the heart of Virgin River, has stirred excitement among fans with a tantalizing update about Season 7—and it might be landing on screens sooner than anyone thought.

Known for her role as Mel Monroe, Breckenridge has led the beloved Netflix romantic drama since its 2019 debut. Mel’s emotional journey—from heartbreak to healing in a picturesque Northern California town—has captivated audiences for years. By the end of Season 6, Mel had found happiness with former Marine Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), culminating in a long-awaited holiday wedding that left fans swooning.

Now, as production on Season 7 nears completion, Breckenridge has taken to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes glimpse into filming. “I feel like I’m on day 857 of filming season seven… We’re almost done!” she said with a laugh, clearly both exhausted and exhilarated.

“Can you believe it? I can’t even believe it. Almost to the finish line,” she continued, hinting that post-production could begin soon and that a release date may not be far off.

While Netflix has yet to confirm an official premiere, Breckenridge speculated, “I keep wondering if they’re going to put the show out this year. What do you guys think? Probably, right? I mean, if they have it, they’ll probably drop it… this year, 2025.” She admitted she’s not in the loop on official dates, joking, “I don’t know any information. I’m the last to know.”

Historically, Virgin River has stuck to a fairly consistent release schedule, with new seasons arriving annually. Season 6 premiered in December 2024, and while past seasons have shifted between summer and winter debuts, there’s no indication that Season 7 will stray far from that rhythm.

As anticipation builds, fans are eager to see what happens next. Season 6 ended on several cliffhangers—including Brie’s complicated relationship with Brady, and the troubling developments involving Charmaine—that are sure to take center stage in the new season.

If Breckenridge’s hints are anything to go by, we might not have to wait until the end of 2025 to return to Virgin River. Stay tuned—Mel, Jack, and the rest of the town may be back in our lives sooner than expected.
