Virgin River Star Tim Matheson Shares Exciting Season 7 Update
The show returns for its sixth season next month.
Virgin River star Tim Matheson has shared an exciting update on the seventh season of the show.
The star, who plays Doc Mullins on the Netflix show, was interviewed by Anna Daly about his upcoming memoir, Damn Glad to Meet You: My Seven Decades in the Hollywood Trenches, sharing an important update regarding the seventh season of Virgin River.
In the interview, Matheson confirmed that filming on the next chapter would begin in March 2025, adding further that the various cast members now viewed each other as “family” after five years of filming in total.
“I love the feeling of the show, and also the cast and crew have all been congealed into family,” he said. “So it’s really wonderful that we all now think of each other as family. It is one of my favourite experiences, and I love the show.
“I love playing Doc Mullins because I’ve played a lot of doctors, and I did a lot of research about country doctors who work in small towns, where you know all of your patients. It’s a different kind of connection with the people you serve.
“When you walk down the street, you see them; you see them at the bar at night. It’s a different kind of medicine, really. This is the story of a guy who left the big city to get back to treating patients one-on-one, and I love that.”
With the show set to return to screens next month (December 19) with its sixth season, Netflix unveiled the first-look photos of the upcoming episodes with a post on social media last month, showcasing all the returning characters.
“We’ve missed them so much! Get a first look at what’s ahead in season 6. Counting the days until Virgin River comes back,” the post read. Sarah Dugdale, who plays Lizzie on the show, added in the comment section: “Can’t wait for you guys to see this season!”
