Benjamin Hollingsworth, who is best known for portraying fan-favourite character Brady in Virgin River, has issued an update on his upcoming movie role. The 40-year-old star, who has been a recurring character since the second season of the Netflix show, has revealed he has embarked on his first day of filming.
Taking to Instagram, the actor revealed to his 371,000 that production for the unnamed film had started in Franklin, a city just south of Nashville, Tennessee.
On his Instagram story, he greeted his fans, saying: “Hey everyone! Okay, so today is day one of filming my new movie and day one is a thing.
“A bunch of new people, a new character, new story, a bunch of new dynamics, but I gotta say… The people here in Nashville are so sweet. But the weather is really, really hot.”
Asking his followers for advice, he added: “For those of you who are in the South, can you please drop me a suggestion on how to stay cool or just not melt into a puddle. That would be amazing, thank you.”
While we don’t yet know which film Hollingsworth is referring to, Deadline has reported he is set to join Frasier star Kelsey Grammer in upcoming Karen Kingsbury Productions movie, The Christmas Ring.
His most recent credits include Hallmark’s Deck the Halls on Cherry Lane and upcoming 2025 film Love is a Dog’s Best Friend, according to IMDb.
It comes ahead of Virgin River season 7, which will see Hollingsworth return as Daniel Brady.
While season 6 of the Netflix show mainly focused on the wedding of Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), it also saw Brady caught in a love triangle with Brie Sheridan (Zibby Allen) and Mike Valenzuela (Marco Grazzini).
While Brie broke up with Brady and season 5, the romantic tension between them was still palpable, ultimately leading to a moment of passion on the pool table of Jack’s Bar.
Ben previously told USA TODAY: “I always talk about Brady and Brie like magnets. They’re constantly being drawn to each other, and at some point, if you get them close enough, it’s undeniable.”
Meanwhile, Zibby spoke about Brie trying to find herself, placing it above the idea of her character finding a romantic partner.
“Brie needs to get really real with herself,” she explained to Us Weekly. “I think that she has an old identity that she’s still fixed too.
“The one that was really good at everything, she was amazing at her job. Nothing could get past her.
“And then that huge betrayal with her sexual assault with her ex totally turned her sense of self upside down. I think she’s still trying to cling to an old sense of herself.
“So until she can start to really get right with who she is now, and soften, it won’t be clear to any of us.”
A release date for Virgin River season 7 has not yet been confirmed, though it has been estimated it will drop very late 2025 or early 2026.
Virgin River is available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
