Virgin River star in stitches as Martin Henderson spills one of his earliest acting roles
Martin Henderson left his Virgin River co-stars in hysterics in the latest episode of their podcast.
Virgin River star Martin Henderson has pulled back the curtain on his earliest forays into acting, leaving his co-stars gobsmacked.
The New Zealand star, best known for portraying Jack Sheridan in the hit Netflix series, recently appeared on Alexandra Breckenridge and Zibby Allen’s podcast, I Like You Very Much.
During his interview, he lifted the lid on his acting methods and recalled plenty of amusing anecdotes behind the scenes.
He also left Zibby in stitches when he revealed one of his first roles was in a school play adaptation of Cinderella.
“When I was 10 or 9 the school did a school show,” he remembered.
“And it was an adaptation of Cinderella. And it was kind of this weird musical.”
Zibby pressed Martin on who he played in the production and he sheepishly confirmed he was the Fairy Godmother.
“Oh my God,” Alexandra replied as Martin went on: “I came out in a tutu.”
Zibby couldn’t help chuckling as the hunky Virgin River star expressed his enthusiasm for the part.
“‘I want to do that, I want to do that!’” he remembered saying. “I came out with a wand and a tutu and everybody laughed!”
Martin has since taken on a very different role as Jack, the rugged former Marine and bar owner in Virgin River.
As thousands of fans await the show’s return for its sixth season, the star has also shed light on his personal philosophy towards acting.
“What I relate to and what most artists are driven by is this idea of truth,” he explained.
“When you’re doing that thing you’re talking about, what you describe as being genuine or being natural, it’s because you’re telling the truth about an aspect of your humanity.
“And when the other person’s telling the truth there’s this unbelievable chemistry, spark, thing that happens that is, I think, so rewarding.”
His character Jack’s relationship with Alexandra’s Mel Monroe drives the main drama of Virgin River, but Zibby’s Brie Sheridan, Jack’s sister, also has plenty of her own struggles to deal with.
All this and more is set to be unveiled when the next outing drops on Netflix, hopefully by the end of this year.
