Virgin River fans are eagerly awaiting an update on Season 6. Although filming has wrapped, there is no official release date yet.
There is no official release date for Virgin River Season 6 yet. However, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos has hinted that new episodes could debut as early as late 2024. The announcement was made during Netflix’s Q2 earnings call, where Sarandos mentioned several shows, including Virgin River, that are slated to release before the end of the year.
Filming for Virgin River Season 6 begins on February 22, 2024, and ends in June 2024. Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson, the series’ main cast members, have confirmed their return to the set via their Instagram accounts. Netflix renewed the show in November 2023, even before Season 5, Part 2, was released.
While the full cast list for Season 6 is not yet available, two main cast members—Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel Monroe and Martin Henderson as Jack Sheridan—have been confirmed to return. Other returning cast members include Tim Matheson as Dr. Vernon “Doc” Mullins, Annette O’Toole as Hope McCrea, and Colin Lawrence as John “Preacher” Middleton, among others. John Allen Nelson is also expected to reprise his role as Everett, Mel’s biological father.
The official plot synopsis reveals that Season 6 will feature Mel and Jack’s wedding. The plot will include flashbacks to the 1970s, introducing Mel’s parents. Another major storyline involves Everett, Mel’s father, whose backstory will be explored through flashback episodes. In Episode 2, viewers will learn about Everett’s past connection to Virgin River and how it affects Mel today.
The new season will also delve into Mel and Jack’s future, including the construction of their home and barn. There will be more exploration of their path to parenthood, especially after their previous struggles with the primaries. Meanwhile, other characters, like Lizzie and Denny, will go through pregnancy, while relationships like those between Brie and Mike, and Cameron and Muriel, continue to develop.
