Virgin River is officially making Netflix history. With its Season 8 renewal, the beloved drama has become the streamer’s longest-running live-action scripted series, surpassing Grace and Frankie and Orange Is the New Black.
Season 7, premiering March 12, picks up shortly after Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan’s wedding, following the newlyweds as they step into married life and begin planning a future — and potentially a family — together. According to showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, the season explores their “honeymoon phase,” while also deepening the show’s focus on community and family dynamics in Virgin River.
The new season introduces fresh challenges, including threats to Doc Mullins’ clinic and the arrival of new faces. The Vampire Diaries alum Sara Canning joins as Victoria, a medical board investigator with a personal connection to the town, while Cody Kearsley appears as Clay, a rodeo worker searching for his long-lost sister.
Netflix released the Season 7 trailer on February 9, teasing major developments such as Mel and Jack’s baby hopes, Lizzie giving birth, and growing uncertainty around Kaia’s future — while keeping the fate of Charmaine and her twins firmly under wraps.
With Season 8 already confirmed, Virgin River shows no signs of slowing down, continuing to blend romance, resilience, and small-town drama against its signature scenic backdrop. 🌲
