Virgin River: “inappropriate”, “poor guy”… This character provokes the disgust of fans
Not all the characters of Virgin River are loved by fans. One in particular, who arrived during season 4, greatly displeased fans. His behavior and his words convinced fans of the Netflix series that he was not worthy of dating Mel.
The wait is long. To cope with the many months that still separate them from season 6 of Virgin River – for which no release date has yet been announced – fans discuss the characters in detail. Some are adored, others are hated. This is the case of a man who arrived during season 4 in the Netflix series: Cameron Hayek. The doctor arrives in Virgin River after breaking up with his fiancée to work at Vernon Mullins’ clinic. It is there, of course, that he meets nurse Mel Monroe. He then seems to fall under her spell while she is in a relationship with Jack. And that’s why fans of the series can’t stand him. For them, Cameron should have minded his own business and not made hasty judgments about Mel and Jack’s relationship.
According to fans, Cameron has gone way over the top in Virgin River
In a Reddit forum dedicated to the series, Virgin River fans are having a field day pointing out all of Cameron’s red flags. For the majority of them, the doctor behaved “shady” when he arrived in Virgin River. “Cameron talking badly about Jack was too much for me. He doesn’t know anything about Jack and Mel’s story and he still says she’ll need someone to help her when the baby is born!” protests one Internet user. Mel ultimately lost the baby during season 5. Which doesn’t take away Cameron’s bad intentions, according to fans. “It was weird. He was really trying to instill doubt in Mel, hoping that she would leave Jack for him,” wrote another user.
Cameron made up for it in the Virgin River sequel
Fans of the Netflix series think that Cameron’s behavior was “inappropriate” and even “disgusting,” with some not hesitating to call him a “poor guy.” The doctor initially tried to alert Mel to Jack’s drinking habits. As a doctor and the former fiancé of someone with this addiction, it could have started out as a good thing. Fans didn’t see it that way. Maybe they softened when the doctor finally found love elsewhere, in the arms of Muriel? Fans will find out what the writers have in store for him in season 6 of the series.
